'Don't Sweater It' is "warm, cozy, creamy mauve" from their Fall 2012 Stylenomics collection. It almost looks brown in some light, but I love it both ways. Definitely a prefect polish for Fall.
'Beyond Cozy' is a fantastic "silvery gold glitter" from their Winter 2012 collection. The sparkle in this is insane, and I love that it leans gold or silver depending upon the light.
Definitely gets me in the mood for the holidays! :)
I recently got some lovely new polishes for summer.
I've been really drawn to both Zoya & Essie's summer collections this year,
so I purchased a few from both brands.
First up,
some from Essie's Naughty Nautical collection!
'Naughty Nautical', besides bearing the name of the collection, is a teal-y, "brilliant blue-green'" with a slight shimmer. I attempted to capture it here, but my camera just isn't quite good enough I don't think.
This is 3 coats.
* Rather than do my chart for each polish,
I've done one at the end of this post for all of them
by averaging their results.*
'Sunday Funday' is a lovely coral polish with slight shimmer.
I really loved this little number. Great for summer :)
This is 2 coats.
'Full Steam Ahead' is a pale lilac with a slight pearlescent shimmer.
Some of my favorite lavenders/lilacs are from Essie,
and this one is no different!
Seen here is 3 coats.
'The More the Merrier' is a described as a "juicy lime" glossy creme.
This was my LEAST favorite of the bunch.
It looks like an exact dupe of one from the Nicki Minaj collection from OPI,
and was super streaky ://
Seen here is 3 coats.
Overall, I'm not sure I'm glad to have spent the money to buy these,
but it's too late now.
Based on my first impressions,
the quality is 'eh' & most look to be exact dupes of other polishes I have-
and my collection is much smaller than most of yours.
Regarding that,
I'll have a dupe comparison of these bad boys soon.
I have an extremely fun polish (or topcoat, rather)
for today.
As i've said before, Lush Lacquer has some amazing neon glitter polishes
that are great for summer.
Here's my latest babeh from them-
2 coats of 'Clowning Around' over 2 coat of Essie's 'Yogaga'.
'Clowning Around' is a clear base that's packed with neon pink micro glitter, & various sizes of neon blue, yellow, orange, green, purple, & pink hex glitter.
This is without a doubt, one of my favorite new polishes.
I love the bright colors, and the fact that it can be worn over a ton of colors :)
I have my final Game of Thrones polish from Not Too Polished to show you today.
Here's 2 coats of 'The Eyrie' over 1 coat of Essie's 'Bikini So Teeny'.
'The Eyrie' is a bluish-lavender jelly based filled with white micro glitter, large silver holo hexes, and giant white hexes. It does it's name justice. For those who don't know, the Eyrie (homestead of the House of Arryn) is in the North of Westeros. The castle sits super high on a cliff, and as you wind your way up to it, you eventually come through snow and then finally, high above the mountain tops around you. This polish looks exactly what the Eyrie seems to me to be!
I really liked this polish.
It's a unique color & went on great.
May definitely have to buy the other 2 GoT polishes she makes!
Side note,
more beauty mail finally came in today:
WOOOO! Can't wait to try those bright mattes.
You all definitely have some bright summer looks headed your way in the next month or so!
Today I have my first polish from the indie maker Above the Curve.
I found out about her polish during a giveaway she helped host (i believe),
and I purchased her Spring collection mini set.
After swatching them all, I've been super impressed!
Here's the first of 5, 'Field of Tulips' over Essie's 'First Timer'.
'Field of Tulips' is a milky, super light green base filled with differently sized yellow, red, blue, orange, green, pink, & purple hex glitters. It reminds me EXACTLY of a hillside covered with tulips, and I love it!
As I said, this was the first polish i've tried from ATC,
I've got 2 beauties from Essie's 2013 Resort collection for you today.
They're all 4 so gorgeous that I had to scoop them up.
(The other two will be posted later this week!)
Here's 2 coats of 'Come Here!'
'Come Here!' is a vivacious coral with pink undertones that leans bright red in some light.
I really liked this polish. Though in the sunlight it looks more red, I still love the rich, coral color. Formula was great, too- MUCH better than I'm used to :)
Also, 2 coats of 'In the Cab-ana'.
'In the Cab-ana' is a gorgeous, vivid robin's egg-blue. It's just amazing in the sunlight! :)
I loved this color. It's lovely and perfect for summer!
And again, formula & application was sooooo much better than other Essies.
So I realize it's already Dec. 2 and i'm a little late on my end of the month favorites,
but things have been just so crazy lately! xP
Anyway,
i'm really excited about this month's favorites,
so let's get started!
1. L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara
Not my picture.
I've tried a lot of mascaras out there, but this stuff is my new favorite. It INSTANTLY lengths my lashes to an incredible length, all in just one sweep. There's zero clumping, which is a lovely perk for a drugstore brand. It's a reasonable $8-$9 bucks and can be found anywhere that carries major basic brands like L'oreal. I don't think i've ever actually tried a L'oreal mascara before (I usually stick to UD, Covergirl, or Maybelline) & it's definitely exceeded my expectations. PLUS, use an eyelash curler after applying this and BAM-- crazy long lashes! Definitely, definitely recommend :e
2. Deep reds/Cranberry colored nail polish such as:
I've been using makeup sponges for the past year or so to apply my foundation.
They've always been pretty good, but after getting UD's new Naked Skin Foundaion this past September, i've been itching for the brush they sell to go with it.
After using it for a month or so now, I'm soooo glad I purchased it.
It really does make application much more smooth and flawless looking.
UD claim it makes your skin look airbrushed, and i'm sure were a makeup professional to use it on you- it would. Though my face doesn't exactly look FLAWLESS- it still looks loads better than when I apply with a sponge. It has a bit of a hefty price tag of $24, but it's totally worth it! :)
I actually made it through yesterday without a hitch,
so today shouldn't be bad at all :D
I have a lovely Essie polish that i'd been eyeballing for awhile.
I've already stated how i'm obsessed with anything cranberry- colored lately,
so when I saw this polish- i wanted it :x
Here's 'Berry Naughty'.
'Berry Naughty' is a deep cranberry (jelly?) that's almost opaque in 2 coats. It had really great consistency, which can't be said for all Essies. This is lovely Fall or Winter polish and is seriously awesome! Definitely think it will be another great base polish for Christmas nail art/stamping!
I've got a GORGEOUS Fall/Holiday polish for you guys today!
I bought this forever ago,
but for some reason just now got around to wearing it, wtf.
Here's 2 coats of Essie's 'Wrapped in Rubies'!
NOMZ.
'Wrapped in Rubies' is a beautiful, deep, ruby-red with gold shimmer. I believe it was part of Essie's Winter 2007 collection? Anyway, I know it's old- and it sat on my shelf almost a year before I ever used it once, and formula was still perfect!
My only issue was the tip wear which is obvious in the pictures,
and happened after wearing it just a few hours.
However, i love this polish enough that i don't currrrr.
I've been using both these shadows together everyday for a simply, daytime look and i LOVE them!
2. Essie's 'Yogaga'
This is a gorgeous beige creme. It's part of a collection based along the same lines- calm and soothing shades. I've used it most recently on the blog here, but I love wearing it all the time because it's a great go-to shade. Definitely recommend this baby!
This was one of the first shades I ever tried from this company,
and it's definitely my favorite so far. It's a beautiful, silver-gold metallic. You can see a swatch here. I've used it with a couple looks already and it's perfect. You can buy it here on their website for a mere $6.50 !!
4. Sinful Colors' Muse Collection
'Rain Storm', 'Muse', 'Into the Mist', & 'Smokin'
This isn't the entire collection- it's just the ones I bought.
However, these have been some of THE best Fall/Winter polishes I've used this past month.
The formula was actually great and they served as bases for lots of mani's I did w/ glitter top coats. Theyre SUPER cheap and you can find them at any local drugstore!
