PCC- 'Ghost Host'

While reorganizing my stash today,
I realized that I still had a Halloween mini from Pop Culture Cosmetics that I forgot to post!
Whoops :X

Here's 2 coats of 'Ghost Host' over 1 coat of DollishPolish 'Baby Gravy'.

'Ghost Host' is a milky white crelly that has all different sized and shaped glitter interspersed-
stars, circles, hexes, shards, half moons, diamonds- you name it.
I like that it's something other than the typical Halloween colors,
with neon greens, blue, holo silvers, and pink along with the
blacks, purples, and oranges.

This polish was much thinner than the other from the same collection,
but it worked okay.
Just FYI, you def are gonna have to dig to get out most all glitters.
But it's worth it :)

Old & New Halloween looks

H A P P Y  H A L L O W E E N !
:D

I decided to repost one of my favorite looks that I've done-
my Halloween look from last year.
PLUS, another Halloween look I did the other day!

Here's last year, 'Candy Corn'.

This was a dramatic & playful look.
Click here to see the full post & what I used!

This year,
I stuck with the same brand,
but attempted a different look.

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
Sugarpill's 'Tako', Flamepoint', & 'Poison Plum'- lid
Covergirl Line Exact eyeliner
L'Oreal Lash Out mascara

Simple, but bright and Halloweeny :)
Which do you like best?

Hope you all have a safe & happy Halloween!

PCC- 'Not So Scary'

I have another Halloween polish form Pop Culture Cosmetics for you today
:)

Here's 2 coats of 'Not So Scary' over 1 coat of ORLY's 'After Party'.

'Not So Scary' is a black based crelly filled with small, neon orange hexes, medium neon orange, black, & neon yellow hexes, and neon red stars.
I really liked the contrast between the black & neon colors in this polish.
It felt like a really cool, Halloweeny mani :)

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand: Pop Culture Cosmetics
Type: Crelly
Formula: Good!
Opacity (1-5): 2
Application: Okay, but you're definitely going to need to dig for those glitters :)
Price: $4 for a mini
Get This: no longer available :/

PCC- 'Candy Corn'

I've got another Halloween themed polish for you
today from Pop Culture Cosmetics.
Here's 2 coats of 'Candy Corn' over China Glaze 'White on White'.

'Candy Corn' is a milky white base filled with orange and yellow
 square and hex matte glitters.
I find that polishes with a stark white base like this are some of the hardest to work with,
or at least they are for me.
I love the square glitters in this, though.

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand: Pop Culture Cosmetics
Type: Glitter
Formula: Pretty good
Opacity (1-5): 2
Application: Okay, a little thick, but not too bad.
Price: $4 for a mini
Get This: their website

Halloween look #1

I really failed at creating any type of creative name for my look today
:x

Thus, Halloween look #1 it is,
as I fully intend on posting at least a second one before Halloween :)

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
Sugarpill's 'Tako'- browbone
Sugarpill's 'Flamepoint' - lid
Urban Decay's 'Black Market' & 'Lovesick' - crease
Covergirl Line Exact eye liner
Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara

This is a simple but super bold, festive look.
Sugarpill has one of the best oranges ever,
so I knew I had to use it.
I've also been anxious to use 'Lovesick' from Vice2
because it's just a glittery, delicious shadow :)

What do you guys think?
Stay tuned for a bit more colorful Halloween look in the next week or two!

PCC- 'Hitchhiking Ghosts'

I have another, even more unique, Pop Culture Cosmetics
polish for you today- a glow in the dark baby!
... Which is more appropriate than ever with Halloween just around the corner.

Here's 2 coats of 'Hitchhiking Ghosts'.

'Hitchhiking Ghosts' is an alien, forest green crelly with medium teal & green
(some holo) circle & hex glitters scattered throughout.
It's a unique shade of green that I find perfect for Halloween.

Here's a shot of it in action in the dark.

No matter how I tried, my poor camera could not capture a clear picture
for the life of me.
Either way, you can obviously see that it glows in the dark &
looks ghostly cool!

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand:  Pop Culture Cosmetics
Type: Crelly
Formula: Pretty good
Opacity (1-5): 3
Application: Good. A little gloopy, but no digging the glitters out- which is always a plus :)
Price: $4 for a mini
Get This: it's not longer available on her website :/

What do you guys think about glow in the dark polishes?

Creepy Jack

I don't often do stamping because i'm just not very good at it,
but I do like stamping.
So, I decided to attempt to use a couple stamps from my new Winstonia plates.
Here's what I came up with:

This is 2 coats of Zoya 'Thandie' with Konad black stamping polish
& Winstonia plate W116
I like that the stamp is smudged a little
and that the topcoat made it run some-
it looks even creepier to me that way :)

Anyway, that's my stamping for the month, probably
haha.
I may have a go at another one; we'll see.

Halloween Glitter Gradient

So I purchased a black & white glitter from Maybelline awhile ago,
but i've been saving it for the Halloween season to swatch :)
I found a look on Pinterest with a similar glitter used as a gradient
over an orange nail, and I knew I had to recreate it.

Here's my attempt!
I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen 'Sun Kissed' as a base
and 'Clearly Spotted ' from Maybelline for the gradient.

'Clearly Spotted ' is a clear base filled with all sizes of black & white
circle and hex glitters.
It's from Maybelline's Color Show, 'Polka Dots' collection.
I figure all these little black & white polishes
are dupes of Lynderella's 'Connect The Dots'-
but I still like it.
Plus, it's only like $6,
so- there's that ;P

The gradient itself is kinda crappy,
but i rarely do nail art...
so when I do, it's mediocre at best.
I still liked this, though :)
What do you guys think?

Pop Culture Cosmetics- 'Candy Cauldron'

Yay! Time for Halloween indies!
Most of you know that I love Pop Culture Cosmetics,
and I've recently purchased several minis from their newest Fall/Halloween themed polishes.
(see the first one here).

Continuing on,
Here's 2 coats of 'Candy Cauldron
over 2 coats of Sinful Colors' 'Orange Creme'.

'Candy Cauldron' is a light orange crelly filled with small, medium, and large green, pink, yellow, blue, and dark pink circle glitters, some with a touch of holo.

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand:  Pop Culture Cosmetics
Type: Crelly
Formula: Good!
Opacity (1-5): 2
Application: You're gonna have to dig for this one to get most all of the glitters out.
Price: $4 for a mini
Get This: it's not longer available on her website or Etsy :/

What do you all think?
I actually really liked this, once it was all said and done.
Digging the glitters out kinda sucked,
but the end result sure is nice!

Nail Mail & NOPI Gumdrop polish

I've been eyeballing the Gumdrop polishes from NOPI for awhile now.
They're super similar to Zoya's Pixie polishes & OPI's Liquid Sand.
I finally picked up 'Cinna-man of my Dreams' the other day,
and here's 3 coats + 1 coat of SV.

'Cinna-man of my Dreams' is a mostly warm, rose colored super fine glitter with some other variously colored fine glitters mixed in as well. You can really see the blue and almost holo glitters in the sunlight. 3 coats was best for this polish,
and man, is it gorgeous !! Even without the top coat,
this sparkled like crazy.
And ya'll know I love me a good sparkle ;)

NOPI brushes are some of my very favorite out there,
so this definitely applied like a dream.
I can't wait to try more from the Gumdrop collection.

NEXT UP, NAIL MAIL !

Being that Fall is upon us and Halloween is just around the corner,
it was time to get some new indies :)
Here's my most recent Halloween/Fall nail mail!

Can you guess which amazing indie maker made these babies?
;)
Stay tuned for swatches of them all in the next few weeks!

'Jinx' & Halloween look

SUP.
So I had posted a Halloween look for my guest post at Luxe Beauty Forever last week,
but i'd like to feature it on here for those of you who didn't see it!

Here's what I came up with!

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
Sugarpill's 'Poison Plum' as base
Urban Decay's 'Black Market' in crease
SP's 'Flamepoint' as highlight
Covergirl's Line Exact liquid eyeliner
UD's 'Big Fatty' mascara

NOW, onto today's polish!
Here's 2 coats of 'Jinx'.

'Jinx' is a warm, copper-toned metallic. I ordered this during one of the Zoya promotions back in the Spring, but i've been saving it for the Fall, because it reminds me exactly of that! I think it's a great Fall polish. Application was great, as with all Zoyas.
:)

Thanks for reading!

'Pumpkin King' & Halloween look!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, ladies!
I can't wait to take my daughter trick or treating tonight.
Even though she's one and I don't really let her have candy,
its hilarious to see her in her costume and she'll enjoy just getting out.
I'll try to post a pic or two on here :)

ANYWAY,
I've saved my most favorite Halloween indie polish for last.
Without further ado- 'Pumpkin King' from All That Glitters !

Here's 1 coat of 'Pumpkin King' over 2 coats of Butter London's 'Yummy Mummy'.

'Pumpkin King' is a clear base with tiny orange hexagonal glitter, large black & orange hexagonal glitter, and intermittent black bar glitter.
NOMZ. After shaking the bottle up well, 1 coat was all I needed. I even thought I should have used it more sparsely, but oh well. I'm a minimalist, so I love how exciting yet not too busy this topcoat is at the same time. AND, i love it over 'Yummy Mummy'. Figured that was too perfect ;)

You can see my other recent Halloween posts using polishes from All That Glitters here and here. You can get 'Pumpkin King' on her Etsy site for $8. She's super nice and works hard to get polishes out to you quickly :)
As I've stated before, All That Glitters has some of the best quality polishes i've ever tried from ANY indie brand, so be sure to go support her and grab some while they're available!

ALSO, DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT
FOR MY GUEST POST TODAY!
It's a Halloween look ;P
So go show me some love!

Peek A Boo!

Hellooooooo.
Making this post short because i'm exhausted.
Worked until 1:30 am last night & had an 8 am class this morning :/
Vomit.

Anyway,
here's yet another one of the indie Halloween polishes I bought recently.
This one is from Lush Lacquer; 2 coats of 'Peek a Boo'.

'Peek-a-Boo' is a milky white base with purple, orange, and black large & medium hexagonal matte glitters (what a mouthful!) and micro bar glitters. It's meant to be worn alone, and worked perfectly so with two coats. I have one other milky based Lush Lacquer polish (seen here), and it was much better than this one. The glitters just didn't stand out as well in this one as they look like they would in the bottle. I didnt have this problem with the other polish from them, so i don't know what it is... Anyway, I still liked this polish. It just wasn't QUITE as awesome as I was expecting- but still great.

It's part of their brand new Halloween 2012 collection.

You can get 'Peek a Boo' here on her Etsy site,
along with tons of other polishes. All the others i've tried from them have been totally worth the $8.75 price tag. Shipping can take awhile, but its because they're constantly slammed with orders, so it's no biggie.

Friday 'Fright Night' !

Happy Friday, ya'll !!
I've got an amazing indie polish for you today :D
This is one of many polishes from All That Glitters that i've ordered recently,
and it sure doesn't fail to please!

Here's 'Fright Night'.

YUM.
'Fright Night' is a sheer black base with orange, pink, and purple hexagonal glitter as well as scattered green bar glitter.

Here's 1 coat of 'Fright Night' over 2 coats of Glitter Gal's 'Lizard Belly'.

So aside from the already apparent tip wear (which was not 'Fright Night's issue),
you can see the awesomeness. I love that it has orange, purple, AND a dash of green.
Formula in the bottle was perfection and it applied very smooth- no clumping or anything.
It's ideal for Halloween!

Currently, 'Fright Night' is not available on her Etsy :/
BUT- she does have a ton of other polishes that have been some of THE best indie polishes i've ever tried, so I highly recommend you check them out.
They each retail for $8, shipping is quick, and she's a very kind shop owner!

Do any of you have this polish?
What's your favorite Halloween polish?

Polka Dots & Spiders !

Hey guys :)
So i've had a lot of eye shadow posts lately... let's get back to nail polish for a little while!

It's been awhile since I did any nail art,
So i've tried some today.
I saw this mani on Pinterest awhile ago and was determined to do it myself for Halloween.

I needed to use my dotting tool to make the spiders.
I wasn't sure if I was about to ruin the mani by trying to create some spiders or not,
so I quickly snapped a photo of the dots to have as a backup pic if I needed it.
I'd be perfectly happy with the mani ending like this, to be honest.
But I pressed on...

Tada! I really needed a toothpick to do the eyes,
because my dotting tool was just too big and it all blobbed together.
But whatever. Next time!

I used:
2 coats of Sally Hansen 'Sun Kissed' as base
Maybelline 'Onyx Rush' for spiders
Sally Hansen's 'White On' for eyes
dotting tool

Still have miles to go on my nail art,
but I have a blast doing it :)
What do you think?
Thanks for reading! :)

Wee bit of Halloween Stamping

Hey everyone :)
I've got some stamping for you today.
I'm not the greatest 'stamper', but I think it's super fun and looks really cute on people who do it well. Unfortunately, I do not do it very well- but I still like to try! :P

Here's some super simple Halloween stamping I did yesterday.

In case you can't tell (due to the crappiness of my stamping skills), that's bats and a witch!
I chose Zoya's 'Tanzy' for the base polish here. It's a bright, pumpkin orange metallic with gold flecks. I wasn't crazy about it when I first bought it awhile ago, but now that it's the Fall I realize it's beyond the perfect shade. It makes me want pumpkin pie, and I don't even like pumpkin pie!

The stamps are from BM plate 13 using Konad stamping polish in black.

So there you have it.
Simple but festive :)
Thanks for reading!!

Candy Corn look :)

Happy Tuesday!
Today is the last day of my Fall break :(
But i'm making the most of it by taking my daughter to the zoo! Last time we went she was only about 6 months old and slept through most of it haha. So I know she'll enjoy it this time :)

I have a fun look for you today.
Of course this time of the year is the time of candy corned everything.
I've seen a lot of nail art inspired by it (which I hope to have time to try my hand at),
but I thought it would fun to do a look based on the colors.
I LOVE the combo of white, yellow, and orange on my eyes and have used it several times before, but I decided to go a little more dramatic tonight.

Here's 'Candy Corned'!

Just the one picture, sorry. I took a ton but this is the only one I really liked, wtf.
So no straight on shots today :/

I used:
Face:
Urban Decay's Naked Skin Foundation
Tarte's Cheek Stain 'Full Blossom'

Eyes:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
Sugarpill's 'Tako', 'Buttercupcake', & 'Flamepoint' respectively
Covergirls liquid eyeliner in black
Urban Decay Big Fatty mascara

Brows:
Urban Decay's Brow Box 'Honeypot' (review of this coming soon!)

 I love me some Sugarpill!
I could have done a bit better with the blending, but I still love it. So bright and happy, and totally candy-corny.
What do you guys think?!
Thanks for stopping by :)

The Walking Dead !!!

Helloooooooooo!
Super stoked about today's post. As you may or may not know,
I love the show 'The Walking Dead'. Usually, I abhor scary movies and whatnot,
but this show (albeit scary) focuses more on the characters' interpersonal relationships than the horror and gore... So i can handle it.
If you haven't seen it- WATCH IT.
The new season starts tonight!

In honor of that,
I've got an aptly named polish for you today from All That Glitters:
Here's  1 coat of 'The Walking Dead' over 2 coats of Essie's 'Yogaga'.

'The Walking Dead' is a clear base with a redish-purpleish shimmer to it. It contains large red and black hexagonal glitter and small, white and black glitter. It's FANTASTIC. This polish could easily reach opacity with a few coats, but I wanted to feature the Essie, too. You can get 'The Walking Dead' & others from All That Glitters here. This is the second polish I've tried from her and both have been absolutely amazing!

The desired effect here is to look like zombie flesh. The red represents blood obviously, and the black represents nasty zombie guts. When I was trying to decide what to layer it over, I asked myself, "What polish do I have that looks like decaying human flesh?" Aha! 'Yogaga' turned out to be perfect. Though a lovely polish its own, it was just what I needed to complete the effect here. Totally reminds me of vicious zombie!

What do you guys think?
Does it remind you of a zombie?
Have you tried any polishes from this maker?
Let me know! :)
