Zoya Pixie Dust 'Lux'

I've only tried one other Pixie Dust from Zoya before,
but I loved it. SO, I was very anxious to try another one.
When Zoya had their last promo,
I scooped up two.

Here's the first: 'Lux'

'Lux' is a "rose quartz" Pixie Dust. They claim opacity is a 4 (on a scale of 1-5), but I would say it's closer to a 3. Here, I've got 2 coats of it over Covergirl's 'Constant Candy'.
I couldn't completely capture the jaw-dropping sparkle of this bad boy,
but it's close enough.
Needless to say, the sparkle & shine is INSANE.
Definitely beautiful!

My Little Pony makeup series- *Twilight Sparkle*

So since my daughter is lately obsessed with My Little Pony,
I decided to do a makeup series based on the little ponies.
They're each packed with all kinds of bright and cheerful colors,
so it's a great excuse to get out my brighter colors and play with them :)

For today's post, I used Twilight Sparkle for my first look.

I decided to stick with various shades of purple
with some slight pink for the look.
I also, of course, had to have a bit of sparkle ;)

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
UD's 'Bobby Dazzle'- inner corner highlight
UD's 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in 'Woodstock' & Sugarpill's 'Dollipop'- lower lash line
UD's Glide On Eye Pencil 'Ransom' & Sleek's 'Parma Violet'- crease
Sleek's 'Flump' & 'Sugarlite'- highlight
UD's 'Grifter' & Lime Crime's 'Pearl-ple'- lid
Sugarpill's 'Tako'- browbone
Victorian Disco's 'Stun Grenade'- silver glitter
Covergirl Line Exact eyeliner
Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara

What do you guys think about my interpretation?
I had a lot of fun creating this crazy, bold, and sparkly look :)

* SEMI-REVIEW * Covergirl's Colorlicious Lip Lava 'Mauva Lava'

Happy Sunday Sunday, everyone!
This particular product caught my eye in Walgreens the other day.
I've only ever tried to the Outlast lipstick from Covergirl, and it's been okay,
so I figured I'd branch out just a bit and try this gloss.
The color looked gorg,
so I was pretty excited.

The Product

Here's the product on Covergirl's website:

I mean, that color looks seductive and awesome, right?!

Here it is on:

Review:

Though it does "saturate" my lips with color as it claims,
the consistency of this gloss SUCKS.
I've tried other glosses with the same feel,
and I hate it.
It's sticky and thick.
No way I could kiss anyone or anything with this bad boy on without totally grossing them out and making a mess :/

It's a shame, really,
because I was very impressed with the color quality.
If you don't plan on kissing anyone or being in wind with hair longer than your temples-
you might be fine ://

Verdict:
This stuff isn't really expensive, but I still wouldn't waste the money.
There are other loses out there that give you color saturation and shine
without feeling like you've got thick glue or paste on your lips.
This would be a last resort for me.

RATING (OUT OF 10): 2

Wearable Thanksgiving Look 2014

Goooooood morning!
So last year, I created a wearable Thanksgiving look that I really fell in love with.
I had a lot of people comment on it, as well, so I figured I would try to create another one.
My goal is to make this look something fun and great for the holidays, but also (duh) wearable-
so anyone could create it AND wear it :)

Here's my look this year!

I love the dimensions that the shimmer of this looks gives.
It's muh fave :)

I used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
(all SYN Cosmetics' shadows)
'Trace'- inner corner
'Blaze' & 'Ruthless'- lid
'Down' & 'Rapid'- crease
L'Oreal mascara
Covergirl Line Exact eyeliner

I absolutely love these colors together for Fall,
which those of you who have followed my blog for awhile know.
They're just gorgeous,
and SYN Cosmetics does not disappoint!

What are your thoughts?!

Tooty Fruity

I've got my first Summer-y look for you today.
I have yet to really use my Sleek Candy palette that I bought a couple months ago,
so I took the time to create a look with it.

Here's 'Tooty Fruity'.

I used (all Sleek shadows):
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
'Pear Drop'- inner corner
'Bubble Gum' & Sugarpill's 'Afterparty'- crease
'Apple Sour' & 'Mint Cream'- lid
Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara

I actually really loved this.
It's fun and bright,
and I forgot how much I loved bright blues on my eyes.
:)

Valentine's Eve look :)

Okay, this will be my last Valentine's Day post,
sorry!
I got started late with the posts so i'm stuffing in everything I can.

This is the look I'm wearing tonight for Valentine's day :)

I used (ALL SYN Cosmetics pigments):
'Synfused' - browbone
'Synfused', 'Entice', and 'Audacity'- lid
'Contempt' & 'Trace'- crease
Covergirl Bombshell Volume mascara
Covergirl Line Exact liquid eyeliner
Too Faced Shadow Insurance

The pictures really don't do it justice.
The combo and shimmer are uh-mazing together.
I can never get me enough of SYN Cosmetics!
If you haven't tried her stuff yet,
GO NOW- all her pigments are $4.00 right now!

* REVIEW * Covergirl Bombshell Volume mascara

So I love reviewing mascaras...
finding out which are the next best thing and which ones aren't worth their price tag.
(See my most recent mascara review posts here and here)
Today I have yet another mascara review for you,
this time from the ever reliable, Covergirl!

The Product
Covergirl recently (as in the past couple months) released yet another mascara,
this time titled Bombshell Volume.

This brand has so. many. dang. mascaras... is it even worth it buying this 'new' one?
Read on to find out! :)

Some of it's Claims:
- Two step "Bombshell Boost System"
- Combines loads of volume w/ a top coat
- Creates "big, sexy Bombshell lashes"
- 10x more noticeable than bare lashes
- Makes lashes look "way beyond big"
- Comes in 4 shades

The Review:
So I scooped this up in the drugstore initially because the packaging caught my eye,
but also because I was about to run out of my L'Oreal Butterfly mascara.
The whole two-step thing is what made me finally give in to give it a go,
as it looked new and possibly worthwhile.

What's all this about the two ends?
Let me show you.
First, end 1 is the "extreme" volume base coat,
with a brush that looks like this:

End 2 is the "intensifying" top coat,
which looks like so:

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd...
it's not a bombshell effect.
Or at least I didn't get it.
And according to loads of other reviews I've seen on CG's site,
it didn't do it for other people, either.

The idea is cool.
Just not sure how effective it was, though.
Some of my letdown might also be the colorful words used in marketing it.
The base coat was anything but "extreme",
and the top coat was hardly intensifying...
However, my lashes did look noticeably better than when they're bare!

PROS:
- Brushes are easy to use and maneuver
- Affordable price at $8-$9
- Definitely made my lashes more noticeable

CONS:
- HARD to take off
- Caused my lashes to clump a bit
- Didn't create the insane bombshell effect it claimed

Verdict:
If you just want a mascara to put on your bare lashes so they stick out,
this mascara will work for you.
It's a decent price and readily available at most locations.

However, if you ever hope to take it off-
you may be in for a rude surprise.
This isn't waterproof, but my UD makeup remover OR Vaseline
hardly made it budge.
I definitely rip out a least a few eyelashes when taking it off.
I don't know if this is due to the double coats you use or what.
Regardless, it's a pain.
Also, this just did not make my lashes look "big",
unless you count how they looked when they clumped...
and they DID clump with this mascara.

I think CG had a good initial idea when they created this,
but it just never came to fruition.

RATING (OUT OF 10): 6-7

What are YOUR thoughts on this mascara?

Valentine's Day look

Well, along with everyone else,
I'm having a Valentine's themed post.
Though, I won't have near as many as I had last year.

Anyway, I wanted to create a flirty V-day look,
so I took to playing a bit.
This is what I came up with!

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
UD 24/7 Eye pencil in 'Ransom' & Sleek's ' '- crease
Lime Crime's 'Pearl-ple'- highlight
Sleek's ' ' & SYN Cosmetics' 'Audacity'- inner corner of lid
SYN Cosmetics' 'Trance'- lid & waterline
Covergirl Bombshell mascara
Covergirl Line Exact eyeliner

What do you guys think?
I ended up really, really liking this look.
I actually wore it out :)
Would you wear it?

Skyrim Makeup Series- 'Aura Whisper'

Helloooooo.
Switching gears just a bit for my Skyrim look today.
Rather than using a place or race as my inspiration,
I decided to use a 'shout',
specifically, the Aura Whisper.

Shouts in this game are special powers that do various things.
These shouts are formed by a series of words that can only be learnt
by the Dragonborn (& a few select others)
after absorbing dragon souls.

As you can see, the Aura Whisper is actually a whisper rather than a shout,
but it has a magical effect all the same-
it reveals any living things' life force (or aura) that's near you,
which is a definite upper hand!

Here's my inspiration from the Aura Whisper:

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
UD's 24/7 eyeliner in 'Bourbon', blended out- crease
SYN Cosmetics' 'Entice'- crease highlight
SYN Cosmetics' 'Faded' & 'Roman'- lid
Covergirl Bombshell mascara
Covergirl Line Exact eyeliner

I wanted this look to remind me of a whisper,
something soft, faint, and fleeting.
So I used that rather than the color of the shout as inspiration.

In the end, 'Faded' & 'Roman' didn't go to together quite as well as I'd hoped,
but I really loved 'Entice' over the crease.
:)

What do you all think?

Nail mail/makeup additions

Several new things today :)

First, my most recent purchases from Zoya came in last week!

Can you guess which these are? ;P
Stay tuned for swatches of these bad boys in the coming weeks.

As for the makeup, I scooped up Covergirl's latest mascara:

CG is usually a solid brand when it comes to mascaras,
so I'm excited to try this one.

Lastly, this little rando thing,

I've never even heard of this brand?
But it was $1 and Spring-y looking,
so, why not?

Swatches seemed decent enough!

Have any of you had experience with these?
What are your thoughts?
:)
