Spotted: Fall!

Now that Fall (and bits of winter?) is definitely here to stay,
I decided to do fun & simple Fall nail art :)
I love using my dotting tool,
so I just went with that.

That's Zoya's 'Flynn' as a base,
and the dots are Sally Hansen's 'Red Carpet', Zoya's 'Thandie',
& an unnamed metallic gold from Kleancolor :)

I'm no pro at nail art,
thus why I never do it,
but I wanted to at least attempt some this time.

Spring Polka Dots

I have some simple nail art for you today.
I love polka dots in general, but especially on my nails :)
Being that it's Spring, I thought i'd do a fun mani with pastels & the polka dots.

I used:
OPI's 'Pink Friday'- thumb
Zoya's 'Pippa'- index finger
NOPI's 'One Big Happy Fame-ily'- middle finger
CG's 'Re-Fresh Mint'- ring finger
Revlon's 'Dreamer'- pinky

Stil not great with my dotting tool,
but i'm decent!
What do you guys think? :)

Pinterest Christmas-y nail art

Hey everyone :)
Happy almost Christmas! :D :e
I have some nail art for you today that I saw on Pinterest awhile ago and LVOED,
and tried my hand at it.

Here's my re-creation of the Nail Network's original mani.

Blah. You can see that after I applied the SV too soon,
a few of the red dots bled :/

Aside from that, I was pretty pleased with this. I thought the original mani was gorgeous, though. Very festive :) Here are the polishes I used:

Zoya 'Kimmy' - dots
So Easy Stripe Rite for silver line
Essie 'Buy Me a Cameo'- base (2 coats)
Color Club 'Ho Ho Holly'- tips

That's it for today!
Thanks for reading :)

Reindeer nail art fail

Hey ya'll.
I have an attempt at nail art for you today.
Awhile ago on Pinterest I saw these adorable reindeer nails from TopCoat It,
and figured they were something I MIGHT be able to pull off with my limited skill in that area.

My hands are just too shaky,
(thanks a lot, genetics),
and I'm not crazy about how it turned out at all...
but figured i'd post anyway.
Maybe one of you pros can do it and actually do it well! :P

Needless to say, TopCoat It's were MUCH better!
:/

I used:
NOPI's 'Hard-Kourt Fashionista - base
Butter London's 'Yummy Mummy' - antlers
NOPI's 'Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi'- nose
Sally Hansen's 'White On' & Maybelline's 'Onyx Rush'- eyes
dotting tool
nail art brush

With someone who's actually good at nail art,
this can look great.
If any of you re-create this,
let me know! :)
Thanks for reading!

Polka Dots & Spiders !

Hey guys :)
So i've had a lot of eye shadow posts lately... let's get back to nail polish for a little while!

It's been awhile since I did any nail art,
So i've tried some today.
I saw this mani on Pinterest awhile ago and was determined to do it myself for Halloween.

I needed to use my dotting tool to make the spiders.
I wasn't sure if I was about to ruin the mani by trying to create some spiders or not,
so I quickly snapped a photo of the dots to have as a backup pic if I needed it.
I'd be perfectly happy with the mani ending like this, to be honest.
But I pressed on...

Tada! I really needed a toothpick to do the eyes,
because my dotting tool was just too big and it all blobbed together.
But whatever. Next time!

I used:
2 coats of Sally Hansen 'Sun Kissed' as base
Maybelline 'Onyx Rush' for spiders
Sally Hansen's 'White On' for eyes
dotting tool

Still have miles to go on my nail art,
but I have a blast doing it :)
What do you think?
Thanks for reading! :)

Day 10: child's favorite animal

Happy Thursday!
My classes are only M-R so this is like Friday for me :)

Today's theme is your child's favorite animal!
Being that she's barely old enough to remember all the animals she's seen (unless they're ones she's seen on a regular basis), my daughter's favorite animal seems to simply be- a dog!
Or puppy, rather. She can almost say it :)

So here's what I came up with:

So this is by no means original, but it's super simple 'nail art' which appeals to my minimalistic nature :) This kind of stuff is right up my alley.

* fluorescent light

Here I used 1 coats of NOPI's 'Hard Kourt Fashionista' as my base... LOVE the instant opacity and fluid-ness of this polish, by the way. The brush is perfect for me, too- fat and short. Just like my little nails! :p

I used ORLY's 'Rage' and Zoya's 'Jinx' for the puppy paw prints.
This ORLY is one of m top 10 favorite nail polishes ever. It's super smooth and really compliments my skin tone. Not to mention that i'm a sucker for foils :x

This is the first time i've used 'Jinx', which I got back around in March. I was saving it for the fall season but decided to try it out now anyway. Closer to fall, i'll definitely have a good swatch of it!

All in all, I realllllly like this color combo!
I know the nail art is very basic and simple, but again,
that works for me!

day 8: favorite child's outfit

Hellllloooo.
I'm heading back from knoxville today :(
meh.

Anyway,
today's theme is inspired by one of your or your child's favorite clothes.
I chose a romper that I love because it's fun, summery, compliments my daughter's eyes, AND seems to be something that's really comfy for her to play around in.

So here's what's on the butt of the romper :p
The rest of it is just this beautiful turquoise blue with white polka dots.

I didn't have a blue that matched the outfit EXACTLY,
but I came pretty close, i think.

Can you tell I have a new obsession? :p
Now that i've figured out the freaking dotting tool, that's all i want to do, haha.

I used:
OPI's 'Fly' as base
OPI's 'Did It on 'Em' for the fish
China Glaze's 'Pink Voltage' for fins
CG's 'White on White' for dots

Day 7: child's room decorations

Hey guys!
So I just noticed something :x
I've got the days and themes mixed up JST A BIT.
This is due to one of the day's assignments being totally illegible. Well, at least a part of the sentences is. And EVEN when using my context clues like a good little English student,
I have no idea what it says.
SO, i'm just going to skip that day altogether!

Anyway,
tonight's post is about your child's room decorations.
My daughter's room is themed in a Jungle Jill theme,
which is basically jungle animals in light pink, white, green, and brown :)
I used her comforter as my inspiration:
Cute, right?
I tried my hand some stamping (which failed) and some nail art (which didn't turn out that badly):

Obviously i've tried to incorporate the different 'themes' of the comforter on each nail.
What's that on my pointer finger, you ask?
Well, it WAS giraffe print stamp. But it didn't exactly transfer over that well.
Neither did the zebra, obviously.
But whatever.
I don't claim to be a nail artist!
;)

I used:
Zoya's 'Gaia' as base on thumb & Zoya's 'Kylie' for dots
China Glaze's 'White on White' as base on pointer and ring finger
NOPI's 'Hard Kourt Fashionista' for giraffe print & BM10
CG's 'Re-Fresh Mint' for base on middle finger & 'Kylie' and 'White on White' for flowers
Konad polish in pink & Konad plate m57 for zebra print
OPI's 'Pink Friday' on pinky

ALSO,
Don't forget to enter my giveaway &
vote for your favorite eye look for a tutorial!

Day 3: your child's favorite TV show!

Itttttt's Monday!
meh.
Though I start a new summer class today,
and i'm pretty excited/nervous about it :x

Anyway,
i'm pretty excited to share today's mani with you.
The theme was your child's favorite TV show.
Being that my daughter is only 9 months, I don't really let her watch TV that much, (and she doesn't seem interested in it most of the time), BUT,
she DOES seem to absolutely. love. Mickey Moues Clubhouse :p
So that was my theme!

Here I created little mouse heads over a red base,
with some white polka dots- which seems to be the signature thing to do.

The black is Maybelline's Color Show in 'Onyx Rush'.
The base is NOPI's 'Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi' from the Kardashion Kolors collection.

I have to say i really, really loved the NOPI. It goes on just so smooth and was almost perfection. The brush size was just perfect for my nails, which are wider than most people's, it seems like.

Also, on my right hand,
(ink from my pen got on my ring finger right before I took this :/)

FINALLY some successful work with the dotting tool!
I have no idea why it took me so long to get the hang of it,
but I finally did.

I realllllly love this mani. I don't want to take it off!
My daughter seemed rather mesmerized with the polka dots, too :p

What do you guys think?
Stay tuned for more from this challenge tomorrow,
and have a great day!

Day 2: Favorite children's book nail art

Happy Sunday funday!
Today is Day 2 of the children themed nail art challenge i'm doing.
Today's theme is for my child's favorite children's book!

She has many favorites, but one of them is The Rainbow Fish. I'm sure all of you are familiar with this book. I think my daughter likes it best because if the colors, seeing as how she doesn't really understand anything else about it yet, haha.

SO, I went out on a limb and attempted to fish scale nail art using my dotting tool.

(this is prior to clean up, because i wanted a good picture before they got messed up)
As you can see... it didn't work out all that well :( For some reason i have the hardest time with the dotting tool. I think if I made each dot bigger, it would have helped. But oh well.

This was taken outside not long after...and YEP, it already got messed up. My dots were somewhat gloopy, and my topcoat did nothing to help the matter. It got mushed and smushed minutes after I took that first photo. humph.

Here's what I decided to do with my right hand, after the dotting tool art fail.
Easy peasy.

Despite how it turned out,
I really like all the colors I chose.
I'm thinking about doing some nail art or creating an eye look with them in the future...

Here's what all I used!

SO, nail art fail for this day :( But lesson learned, I think. It will be interesting to try again after i've had more practice!
