Dupe or No? :: Urban Decay Vice 2 comparisons

So after recieving my Vice 2 palette recently,
I was looking at it and thought... wait a minute.
Some of those look very much like UD shadows I already have-
and ones that aren't old.

So in case any of you were wondering the same thing,
I decided to do a dupe post with some of the shadows from Vice 2 that are similar to other UD shadows.

Here are my findings!

Dupr OR no ?

NO
Upon first glance, I was sure that these two golds were the same.
After swatching them, though, you can see that they are, indeed, different.
The one from Vice 1 is slightly more pigmented and a much brighter gold,
while 'Strike' from Vice 2 is more of a deep gold.
They both are satin-y smooth & great quality,
and would create two totally different looks.
So, in my opinion, no dupe.

Next, Dupe or no?

ALMOST
These two are basically the same except that 'Stash' is a satin shadow while 'Jagged' is a chunky glitter. The shade is the same, though. 'Stash' is MUCH better quality, in my opinion.
So, basically a dupe.

Dupe or no?

NO
These two clearly are not dupes. UD has a few light pinks, but each is slightly different.
You can see that the biggest difference between the new one vs. 'Hot Pants' is that 'X-Rated' is matte and very delicate. 'Hot Pants' is a satin and much more pigmented.
I like them both equally :)
No dupe here!

Dupe or no?

NO.
I, again, at first glance thought for sure that 'Betrayal' was a dupe of 'Omen', which UD released a couple years ago for the first time in their 15th Anniversary palette.
As you can see, though, 'Betrayal' is a much deeper purple, though they both have the same sheen.
No dupe here, either!

Though I don't have comparisons,
some other POSSIBLE dupes from UD's Vice 2 palette to look out for are 'Ambush' & 'Twice Baked', and also 'Derailed' & 'Armor' from Vice 1.
Just something to keep in mind :)

FINALLY!- 'Whimsical'

Hey guys!
Super stoked tonight because I finally laid my hands on Revlon's 'Whimsical'.
Unfortunately, by this point everyone has seen it & knows what it's about,
but it's lovely enough to see again :)

'Whimsical' is a light blue base with large blue & pink hexagonal glitter, and it also some blue micro glitter throughout... annnnnd it's basically a dupe of Deborah Lippmann's 'Glitter in the Air'.

'Whimsical' is SUPER sheer and best used as a top coat. However, I wanted to get the full effect first of the polish alone, so the above photos are with 5 (yes, FIVE) coats- which is at least what you need to be even near opacity.
Next I tried this over NOPI's 'All About the Glam' (which is a shimmery white, because I didn't want to take away from the natural color of 'Whimsical') but the effect was about the same & it came off after 1o seconds so I didn't take pictures of that.

Likely due to the fact that it takes so long to build up, even after applied over a base polish AND with a solid coat of SV, this polish was just too caked on and it rubbed off/wrinkled in minutes, which was pretty disappointing. I guess the only way this can really be used is if you only use a couple coats :/

I've been so excited about this polish, but it didn't quite meet up to my expectations. I do love it, though, and it's totally unique (aside from the whole dupe thing :X) so I'm still glad I bought it :)

ruh-roh raggy--dupes?

hello all!
I took a slight hiatus this weekend because we went back into Knoxville to see all our family and friends, & it was pretty awesome, for the most part.
:|

Tonight I have a little post that I just wanted to do for myself, if nothing else.
I've bought 3 crazy good multi-colored glitter polishes over the past couple months, and now I realize that - they're basically all the same.
sigh xP

So here I have a comparison to show you!

*From L to R:
Finger Paint's 'Fun-Fetti'
NOPI's 'Rainbow in the S-kylie'
Ulta's 'Pinata-Yada-Yada'

....

Can you guess which is which?
:brow

So yeah,
they all totally look almost exactly the same- aside from very subtle differences.
The first on the nail wheel is the Ulta polish. It's a clear base with small hexagonal gold, magenta, orange, green, dark blue, silver, and red glitter. Then it has larger hexagonal glitter in magenta gold, silver, and orange.

The next on the nail wheel is the NOPI from the Kardashian Kolor collection. Quite honestly, this really looks the EXACT same as Ulta's version. Of course with a clear base, 'Rainbow in the S-kylie' has small, hexagonal magenta, silver, gold, orange, green, and light blue glitter. The larger pieces of glitter are the same colors. What gives this polish an almost pastel feel is the light blue rather than dark blue, and the absence of red.

Lastly, we have the Finger Paints polish- my favorite. This polish has a clear base with teeeeeeeny tiny green glitter, small hexagonal glitter in orange, gold, silver, and magenta... and then loads of large hexagonal pieces of glitter in the above colors plus green, red, and dark blue. The concentration of large glitter in this polish is greater than the other two, and really adds a glamorous touch to the polish.

Though all the polishes use verrrrry similar colors, I find the colors in 'Fun-Fetti' to be the richest. It glistens more in the sun, and is therefore more mesmerizing :)

Do any of you have these?
What are your thoughts?
