Valentine's Day look

Well, along with everyone else,
I'm having a Valentine's themed post.
Though, I won't have near as many as I had last year.

Anyway, I wanted to create a flirty V-day look,
so I took to playing a bit.
This is what I came up with!

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
UD 24/7 Eye pencil in 'Ransom' & Sleek's ' '- crease
Lime Crime's 'Pearl-ple'- highlight
Sleek's ' ' & SYN Cosmetics' 'Audacity'- inner corner of lid
SYN Cosmetics' 'Trance'- lid & waterline
Covergirl Bombshell mascara
Covergirl Line Exact eyeliner

What do you guys think?
I ended up really, really liking this look.
I actually wore it out :)
Would you wear it?

Skyrim Makeup Series- 'Aura Whisper'

Helloooooo.
Switching gears just a bit for my Skyrim look today.
Rather than using a place or race as my inspiration,
I decided to use a 'shout',
specifically, the Aura Whisper.

Shouts in this game are special powers that do various things.
These shouts are formed by a series of words that can only be learnt
by the Dragonborn (& a few select others)
after absorbing dragon souls.

As you can see, the Aura Whisper is actually a whisper rather than a shout,
but it has a magical effect all the same-
it reveals any living things' life force (or aura) that's near you,
which is a definite upper hand!

Here's my inspiration from the Aura Whisper:

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
UD's 24/7 eyeliner in 'Bourbon', blended out- crease
SYN Cosmetics' 'Entice'- crease highlight
SYN Cosmetics' 'Faded' & 'Roman'- lid
Covergirl Bombshell mascara
Covergirl Line Exact eyeliner

I wanted this look to remind me of a whisper,
something soft, faint, and fleeting.
So I used that rather than the color of the shout as inspiration.

In the end, 'Faded' & 'Roman' didn't go to together quite as well as I'd hoped,
but I really loved 'Entice' over the crease.
:)

Game of Thrones makeup series- The Unsullied

So today's look isn't about a particular person or House,
but rather about an instrumental group of people as far as Dany is concerned- the Unsullied.
This is an army of slaves that she acquired from Astapor.
Saying they're committed to fighting for her until death is an understatement.

Their tan skin and bronze armor is what inspired this look.

Annnnnd here's the look:

I used (all Urban Decay):
Primer Potion
24/7 Glide On pencil in 'Bourbon'- crease
'Mute' & 'M.I.A.'- crease
'Chase', 'Deeper', & 'Armor'- lid
'Anonymous'- brow bone

So although I like this look,
it didn't quite translate how I wanted it.
I wanted to make it angular, strong, and precise- just like the Unsullied.
But it wasn't quite as bold as I wanted it to be,
and the angle I used in the crease didn't really pan out.

Thus, it just looks like a brown smokey eye :/
Oh well.
Better luck next time, hopefully.

Game of Thrones Makeup Series- 'Winterfell'

Okay, so you guys may be getting totally sick of my Game of Thrones-themed posts,
but now that the season has started, you better just brace yourselves for more!
(Although I will take a break from it in tomorrow's post :P)

I've wanted to do a makeup series based on the show/books since last summer,
but by then the show had ended & I figured i'd just wait until it started again,
because it just feels better to me to do it while the show is running.

Although some looks may be a little crazy & bold,
I'm going to do my best to make most of them wearable! :)
Today's look is for Winterfell- the stronghold in the North of House Stark,
and I used their House's colors, white and grey.

I really want a better camera or lighting so that you can see all the dimensions of this look.
Many of the shadows just aren't picked up that well :/
For instance, there is chunky silver glitter on the lids/eyelashes that, in real life,
looks so much like snow- but it just does not translate in these pictures :(

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
Sugarpill's 'Tako' & Urban Decay's 'Polyester Bride'- brow bone
UD's 'Gunmetal'- crease/outer corners
2 greys from Sephora palette, UD's 'Strip' & 'Uzi'- lid
Covergirl Line Exact eyeliner
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on eye pencil in 'Gunmetal'
L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara

It's simple (kind of), & wearable,
and it definitely reminds me of Winterfell.
If you don't watch Game of Thrones- YOU SHOULD.
The books are even better! :)

Nail Mail & Easy St. Patty's Day look :)

Okay, for real this time- Happy St. Patty's Day!
Idiot me thought it was yesterday O_o
Oops.

I have a final St. Patty's day look for you today,
but before that, I want to show you my newest nail mail!

These babies are for a new indie brand (to me),
and I can't wait to show them to you!
Can you guess what they are,
or what their theme is? ;P

Next up,
my final St. Patty's day look.
I wanted to create something bold, fun, & easy that any of you could recreate for a party or whatever if if you wished to.

I love to wear bright green on my eyes,
and St. Patty's day is a perfect time to do just that!
For those of you that prefer to wear subtle makeup out in public (like myself),
this is a fun time to do it up a bit :)

I used:
Urban Decay's Primer Potion
UD's 'Mignight Cowgirl'- highlight/brow bone
Sugarpill's 'Midori'- crease
UD's 'Misdemeanor'- blended into crease
UD's 'Homegrown' & 'Graffiti'- lid
UD's 24/7 Eyeliner pencil in 'Graffiti' waterline
ugh, Misdemeanor***
Covergirl Line Exact liquid Eyeliner
L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara

What are your thoughts on this look?
Think it something you would try?

Spider web eye look!

Happy Friday!
Today marks the first day of my Fall break & i'm beyond relieved.
I need a good break from school work.

I have a fun little makeup look for you today.
I saw a look on Pinterest that I HAD to attempt to recreate because it looked so fun.
I haven't done that many Halloween posts yet (just one, really), so I was ready to dive head first into this one!

So obviously this is not something I would ever wear out,
but it was super fun and festive to create. I just kind of focused on the one eye and forgot about the other eye :x I didn't plan on doing a spider web on both, but I planned to do a bit more to the other one... oh well. The web is a little shaky because my hands shake like crazy, and even though I held the hand using the eyeliner with my free hand to steady it- it still didn't turn out as good as I had hoped :/ In general, i like it though!

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
Urban Decay's 'Blackout' & 'Black Dog' on lid
UD's 'Polyester Bride' on brow bone
Covergirl liquid eyeliner in black to create spiderweb
Femme Couture black holo glitter eyeliner over Covergirl liner
UD's Big Fatty mascara

simple, violet look

Hey everyone,
hope you guys had a great weekend! :)

I've got a look I saw on Pinterest the other day for you.
It was a super quick and easy violet look (hence the blog title),
and it was also quite pretty.
I figured I would re-create it and share it with you guys,
because I know some of you prefer makeup more on the subtle side (which I don't do that much of), so I thought it would be nice to show you guys something quick and totally wearable!

Tada! Very bright yet simple.
I created this in just a few easy steps, seeing as how I only used 3 shadows for this look :)

I used:
UD's Primer Potion
Urban Decay 'Kiddie Pool' (light blue)
UD's 'Flash' (darker purple)
UD's 'Asphyxia' (light purple)
UD's 24/7 Eyeliner pencils in 'Peace' & 'Ransom'
UD's Big Fatty mascara
Covergirl liquid eyeliner in black

What do you guys think??
I quite like this look.
Easy peasy to create and totally wearable for the average person.
You could easily use a darker purple, grey, or black to transform it into a nighttime look.

christmas present haul

SUP.
I've got some super exciting things to post tonight in my haul consisting of christmas gifts!

woo hoo!
first & foremost (and what i'm most excited about) are my brushes & eye pencils! I've been wanting some quality brushes for awhile to better execute my shadow looks and these are legit.

I got the Crease brush and the Shadow brush, & can't wait to try them! I'll have to post some looks with them soon.

I also got a few of the eye pencils i'd asked for:

I've never used any of these before (though I use these 3 eye shadows all the time) but am expecting great things :)

NEXT,
i got several different nail polishes :

from left to right: Watermelon Rind, Flying Dragon, Blonde Bombshell, Ruby Pumps (mini), Grape Juice, Strawberry Fields, and Emberstone
(i apparently have a fruit theme going...)
I'm super excited about theses and will have swatches of these up soon!

I also received 2 normal size OPI polishes of two minis that I already have-
(and a good base coat, woo!)

Lastly, I got 4 stripers.

I've never used these before either but am looking forward to trying & learning new things about them! ... Though I don't really think too much will look good until my nails get longer :/

ANYWAY, that's it for my little Christmas haul.
Do any of you have any of this already? And if so, what are your opinions on it?!
Thanks for reading, and any feedback is more than welcome!
:D

xmas list

So my mom has been bugging me for awhile lately to finally give her my Christmas list, but i was having a hard time deciding exactly what I wanted to ask for (that wasn't baby/apt related)... BUT, today it occurred to me: Urban Decay eye pencils!
Their 24/7 Glide-on eye pencils are long lasting AND waterproof. I usually only wear black eye liner, but to enhance some of the looks i'm going for lately, I really feel that a few of these are necessary. The ones i asked for are:

Baked

Electric

Gunmetal

Bourbon

Graffiti

Ransom

These would work the best with the shades I use the most, & i'm really hoping to get at least a few of them! (*UD has 'Baked' on sale online for $7- hello!) Going hand-in-hand with these are my need for brushes. I've never really used brushes before but have preferred to apply/blend/etc with my fingers because i've just found it to be easier, albeit messy. However, with some of the things i'm wanting to try I really think some good brushes would come in handy. UD has 3 that i've also asked for:

this smudger brush

this shadow brush

and this crease brush!

Each are $26 which would ordinarily be much too pricey for me- but that's what Christmas is for :) Plus, you get what you pay for & I know UD is good quality- so it's worth it!

What are you asking for on your Christmas list (beauty related or not!)?
