Serendipity inspired: 'Trafalgar True'

Good evening, everyone!
I've had a busy day of packing (both the apt since we're moving in 2 weeks, and packing for the beach next week) so it feels good to finally be able to sit down for some 'me' time :)

So my older cousin, myself, and now my daughter were all read the 'Serendipity' series when we were little. It's a series of fantastic books about life lessons that take place on the island of Serendipity, and it stands out because of it's vivid pictures- even now (& it was written in the 70's!!).
I'm in the process of reading all of them to my daughter now, and the great illustrations got me thinking about doing some looks to match them :)

Tonight's look is technically the second look (you can see the other here) but it's from the same book as the first- Trafalgar True!

For tonight I chose the vivid Trafalgar as my inspiration.

*fluorescent light, no flash

Does it looked like I used 3 different kinds of blues here?
......?
Yeah, i didn't think so.
One of them was much too close to another to show much difference, and i should have just left it out completely for a better effect. Trafalgar has so many shades of blue in him that I really wanted to capture that, but I didn't do a very good job :/

Swatches! (all Urban Decay)

All in all, I was semi-happy with the look. It blended almost a bit TOO much on the lid, and I didn't finish the brow bone and crease like I wanted, but i'm still learning. Practice makes perfect, or so they say.
This is obviously not the most wearable look,
but the colors in the book were too beautiful to pass up.

'Peace' & 'Ransom' are two of my favorite UD shades ever. They are two of the very first shadows I ever tried from UD, and i'm pissed that both (i think) are being discontinued. The blue that's supposed to be a good substitute for 'Peace' ('Haight') is nowhere NEAR the as bright :(
Boo, Urban Decay. Boo.

ANYWAY,
that's that.
What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading! :DD

Easter look #2

Hellooooo.
So today was cloudy and rainy & totally NOT a good day to end Zoya week on... so I'll continue that tomorrow, if the weather allows :)
Instead, I decided to try my hand at another Easter look, this time something a bit more bold.
After surfing Google images a bit, I saw this look recreated a few times, so I figured I'd have a go at it.
Here's my version!

*eyeliner
*no eyeliner
** fluorescent lighting, no flash

* indoor, flash

Voila!

No obviously this isn't a look I'd do out in public with to the grocery or something, but it was super fun to do. This is probably the craziest I've ever done, & it definitely got me excited to try some more.

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
'metallic yellow' from Ulta palette on corners
Urban Decay's 'Graffiti' (green)
UD's 'Peace' (blue)
UD's 'Junkshow' (pink)
UD's 'Ranson' on brow bone

Woo!
I feel like this is super festive and fun xD
What do you guys think?!
Have a good night!

bowchickawowwow

 hello all!
so much for the subtle looks- today I felt quite playful. Thus, i went with one of my favorite bold looks! Applying this look today made me even MORE anxious for my brushes, because though blending with my finger is fine, I could achieve a much more refined look with brushes :/ oh well!

* i can't get over how it doesn't look the same here as it does in real life :/ humph. Also, this was taken pre-eyeliner

*both eyes, obvi

* look when eyes are open!

Behold! my feisty little number. I don't wear this look (or any bright shades, for that matter) quite as often as I used to, due to the fact that I feel it makes me look younger... and seeing as how i usually have my 2 month daughter in tow with me- i don't want to look 16. I never really gave a damn what people thought about me until I became a mother. I'm still not so sure why I care if they think i look 16 or my actual age.... i guess because they're not just judging my person anymore, but judging what kind of mother I am? I don't know. It's dumb, i know :/ But ANYWAY, this look is a lot of fun and something I may just say 'to hell with it', and wear it more often again :)

& Just for kicks, picture of said daughter!
She's just started smiling :)

Anyway...

Swatches!
(all Urban Decay)
* Vanilla, Graffiti, Peace, Blackout

'Vanilla' & 'Blackout', as i've stated before, are in the 15th Anniversary palette and i'm pretty sure they aren't sold separately. However, UD does sell a very similar black, 'Zero' that you could use instead. 'Graffiti' and 'Peace' can both be found in the Deluxe Shadow Box, and- good news!- are sold separately here for $18 bucks a pop!

Any feedback is welcome :D
