Nail Mail & Easy St. Patty's Day look :)

Okay, for real this time- Happy St. Patty's Day!
Idiot me thought it was yesterday O_o
Oops.

I have a final St. Patty's day look for you today,
but before that, I want to show you my newest nail mail!

These babies are for a new indie brand (to me),
and I can't wait to show them to you!
Can you guess what they are,
or what their theme is? ;P

Next up,
my final St. Patty's day look.
I wanted to create something bold, fun, & easy that any of you could recreate for a party or whatever if if you wished to.

I love to wear bright green on my eyes,
and St. Patty's day is a perfect time to do just that!
For those of you that prefer to wear subtle makeup out in public (like myself),
this is a fun time to do it up a bit :)

I used:
Urban Decay's Primer Potion
UD's 'Mignight Cowgirl'- highlight/brow bone
Sugarpill's 'Midori'- crease
UD's 'Misdemeanor'- blended into crease
UD's 'Homegrown' & 'Graffiti'- lid
UD's 24/7 Eyeliner pencil in 'Graffiti' waterline
ugh, Misdemeanor***
Covergirl Line Exact liquid Eyeliner
L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara

What are your thoughts on this look?
Think it something you would try?

Green Oceans

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I hope everyone has a fun & relaxing day :)

Quickly,
here's my mani for the holiday:

This is 2 coats of Maybelline's 'Green with Envy' beneath 2 coats of Sinful Colors' 'Green Oceans'. I saw the latter awhile ago and HAD to scoop it up because it's just such a gorgeous flakie. Reminds me a lot of Zoya's 'Opal'!

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand: Maybelline
Type: Creme
Formula: Eh
Opacity (1-5): 4
Application: Terrible. Super streaky :(
Price:  $3-$4
Get This: any local Drugstore or big retailers like Walmart

I was very disappointed with the Maybelline polish :/
I've tried a couple others of theirs and really liked them,
but this one was just a dud :/

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand: Sinful Colors
Type: Flake
Formula: Pretty good!
Opacity (1-5): 1
Application: Pretty good!
Price:  $1.99
Get This: any local Drugstore like Walgreens

As for 'Green Oceans',
it's AWESOME, but I think I picked a bad colored polish to be it's base.
I'm anxious to try it with a different color :)

What are your thoughts on these?

Beer & Gradient fail

Bleh, so I attempted another gradient mani today.
This is only the third time i've done one,
& it's definitely my least successful :(
To compensate, I decided to add a cute St. Patty's day stamp!
.... and had little luck with that, too.
I just need to stick to makeup! :(

Despite the massive fail,
I figured i'd post anyway :/
(this was prior full cleanup!)

So I decided to use CG's 'Four Leaf Clover', 'Re-fresh Mint', & 'Kinetic Candy'.
I think done right, the combo could look really cool.
I just need to perfect my skill set a bit :/

I've been looking for ways to use some of my new Winstonia plates,
so the failed gradient presented a good opportunity.
I know a lot of people do pub crawls or drink/party for St. Patty's day,
so the little beer mug stamp fit perfect :)

Stay tuned for some (more decent) St. Patty's day manis in the next couple days!

Granny Smith Apple

Hey guys,
due to some nasty/cloudy weather lately (and thus no sunlight to take decent nail photos),
I've got another St. Patty's day inspired makeup look for you today.
Here's 'Granny Smith Apple' !

This look uses a trio of greens from the Sephora palette.
I've been wanting to use them together for awhile,
but just decided to save it until the upcoming holiday :)
I know it's rather bright,
but I really liked it.
What do you guys think?!

p.s. Like the lipstick?! Stay tuned in the next day or two for a full product review on it!

Star Wars St. Patrick's Day

Helloooooo!
I'm taking a break from the Sugar Rush collection to do a makeup look today.
I still haven't gotten a chance to use any of my Victorian Disco pigments,
and since I bought 2 with St. Patty's day in mind-
I figured i'd go ahead and feature those :)

Here's 'Star Wars St. Patty's'.

I used:
*From L to R*
MUG's 'Sea Mist- shade over crease
VD's 'The Fett'- crease
VD's 'Yoda's Yoga Mat'- lid
UD's 'Vanilla'- browbone/highlight
NYX Jumbo pencil 'Milk'
UD's Primer Potion
L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara
Covergirl Line Exact liquid eyeliner

So this look is very straightforward- just some simple blending.
I was REALLY impressed with these VD shadows, though.
Super sparkly and just a little bit of fallout.
'Milk' & UD's Primer Potion were more than adequate as a base for them.

You can't quite see how amazing both the VD shadows are in the pictures,
but they have hints or gold and purple to them- just lovely!
Can't wait to use the rest I purchased!

my final (& favorite) St. Patty's day polish!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, ya'll!
Hope everyone had fun immersing themselves in beer, green attire, & what have you :P

So tonight's little gal is the other polish i bought (along with this one) from GlitterFest.
There's not really much of an introduction necessary; the polish speaks for itself!

Behold, 'Free Bird' !
GlitterFest describes 'Free Bird' as "a gorgeous emerald green with gold flakes throughout". It's a light green base with SO many different kinds of glitter- it's nuts. Just with the naked eye, you can see that 'Free Bird' has loads of teeeeeeeny dark green glitter, along with large hexagonal & square pieces of green glitter, large square and triangular gold glitter, and large holographic golden diamond glitter (whew- mouthful).
!!!!
So neat, and different from any other polishes I have.

* one coat over China Glaze's 'Re-Fresh Mint'

* 2 coats, with SV

H YEAH!
So rich and lustrous it's ridiculous. I thought about just using 1 coat & using the polish as a topcoat, but I liked the effect I got with 2 coats, so I went with that instead. I don't have another polish that's this shade of green, and I really like it.

All in all, I'm totally pleased with 'Free Bird', and GlitterFest in general. As I've stated before, each of their polish is about $4 (because it's in a smaller bottle, but that's ok with me :)) and you can get them off their Etsy website. I know that I, for one, am definitely going to be getting some more. Shipping was super fast & they came seriously like 2 days later.

Anyway, hope everyone had a lovely St. Pat's!
I've got my Zoyas from their recent promotion and a new palette coming in the mail... so I'm super excited about upcoming posts!
:D

a weird & a minimalist st. patty's day mani

HAYSUP everyone.
I'm pretty bummed at the moment,
because I was so excited to sit down & blog with a nice glass of wine...
but alas, it appears that I have drank it all >.<

Anyway, I wanted to try a few more festive manis for the upcoming holiday,
but I'm not that pleased with what I came up with; I took them both off almost immediately.
Nevertheless, I figured I'd share them.

First up,
...
yeah, I have no idea what I was trying to do here.
Something, obviously, buttttt...  o_O
I used 2 coats of China Glaze's 'Four Leaf Clover' as the base & did the stripes with China Glaze's 'Re-Fresh Mint'. The clovers are stamped with white Konad stamping polish and plate BM03. That didn't come off well, either, but screw it.

This one I like a bit better since it's more simple. I used CG's 'Re-Fresh Mint' again as the base, then some tiny green hearts from my basic Cina nail art kit. This is the first time I've used any nail art like this, & it was actually pretty fun.

Anyway, there's that.
I scored UD's Book of Shadows 4 off eBay for $25 (holllla!) & hope it gets here soon so I can do some looks with some new shades :)
That's my specialty, anyway- though I know most of you are nail guru's & much prefer to see nail stuff :$

st. patty's day look

good evening, friends!
I have had an extremely relaxing/lazy day today due to not getting in bed until 5 am due to going to NiT GriT last night (that was a mouthful)-
but t'was amazing.
he threw down so hard.
& my face melted :)

Anyway,
I know st. patrick's day is still a week or so away but I wanted to go ahead & post tonight's look.

'metallic white' from ULTA palette, Urban Decay's 'Homegrown', & UD's 'Misdemeanor'

Voila!
I really like green & blue on my eyes lately,
& these colors were no exception.

There you have it- short & sweet.
Hope everybody had a great weekend!

3/7/12

pot o' gold!

SUP.
So tonight I tried my first gradient... >.<
It wasn't pretty, I'm afraid. It was much harder than it looked, wtf.
One of the reasons why I'll stick to mostly makeup... :P
Anyway, I thought I'd share it with you guys nonetheless,
& maybe ya'll can give me tips!

* initial idea

*i know this is cropped weird; I did a wonky job on my middle finger & was attempting to crop it out as much as I could :x

So obviously I had St. Patrick's day in mind when I did this- the whole pot of gold thing.
If I could actually DO a gradient, I think it actually would have looked really good.
:/ oh well.

I used NOPI's 'Khloe Had Little Lam-Lam' from the Kardashian Kolor collection as the base. This polish is a deep, almost forest-green creme. It was a litttttle gloopy, but still easier to apply than I thought. One coat was enough for me, believe it or not.
The glitter is China Glaze's 'Blonde Bombshell' which is a fantastic gold glitter with teeny pieces, larger pieces, and 'strips' (for lack of a better word) of gold glitter, as well.
I really like the two together :)

What are your thoughts?
Tips?
Let me know!
Have a great night/early morning!

Emerald City of Oz = reality!

Happy Tuesday!
It's a GORGEOUS day here in Tennessee, my daughter isn't fussy, & things are just all around great :)

Today I have a beautiful, St. Patrick's-ish ploish for you:
China Glaze's -Watermelon Rind'

*right hand

*left hand

I haven't even posted many pics lately of my nails because my cuticles are so deplorable (especially on my left hand- the one I photograph the most),
but I just had to post this one.
'Watermelon Rind' is a gorgeous emerald-green shimmer packed with glitz. My particular formula was a little runny, but nothing too bad. I used 2 coats here, but could have probably used another- it's a bit sheer.

In the sunlight, this stuff glistens like crazy.
It really is pretty amazing.
It REALLY reminds me of Emerald City in 'The Wizard of Oz'.
totally magical :)

2/29/12

early st. patty's day mani & ulta haul

good evening, everyone.
Tonight I have my first stamping mani to share with you :)
It took me a bit to get the hang of it & lord knows I still have a ton of improving to do,
but I've got the gist of it.

* fluorescent light

* sunlight

So there you have it.
I know it's a pattern everyone has see before but I wanted to start with something safe.

I  used:
Konad stamping plate m57
China Glaze 'Refresh-mint' as the base
Konad stamping polish in black for leopard pattern
CGs 'Kinetic Candy' & 'Four Leaf Clover' for the dots

ALSO,
I bought some fantastic goodies at Ulta yesterday.

Holllla!
I can't wait to try & review them all :)
Do any of you have these products?
What are your thoughts?
