ULTA Fall polish haul

So being that Fall is coming up,
I HAD to stop in ULTA and pick up some fall-ish polishes :P
Here's what I got!

Can you guess which these are?
Some are from a new collection, some aren't :)
Can't wait to show you these babies!
What's your favorite Fall polish?

Short post because i'm uber busy today,
but stay tuned for much more in the coming days :D

Easter look! (revisited)

Hey everyone,
about a year ago ( when my blog was still in its infancy),
I created a look for Easter using yellow, white, & pink.
Now that the holiday is again approaching & my skill set has increased a bit,
I figured i'd revisit it!

The idea here was to create something light, simple, & delicate.
It's a color combo I wouldn't usually do,
but I really like it.
It's happy! :)

I used a ridiculous amount of shadows to accomplish this
because I just couldn't seem to quit adding,
but it can easily be accomplished with just 3 or 4 of them.

I USED:
UD's 'Polyester Bride' & unnamed white metallic ULTA shadow- inner corner
unnamed ULTA yellow shadow & unnamed yellow from Sephora palette- middle lid
unnamed ULTA pink shadow & UD's 'Sphynx'- outer lid
UD's 'Tainted'- crease
UD's 'Vanilla'- brow bone

What do you guys think?
Thanks for reading! :)

first Fall look of the season!! :)

Hey guys!
Happy two-more-days-'til-Friday day!
Pathetic, right?
But, it's how I get through my weeks so whatev.

Anyway,
excited for today's post!!
This is the first Fall look i've done for the season and it's getting me so ready for the colors to start changing.

Here you go!

So these pictures don't do it justice because I really need a better camera- but it looks much brighter in person.

Swatches!

'Oak' & 'Big Island' are Beauty From the Earth.
The last three browns are all unnamed browns from my ULTA metallic palette.

'Vanilla' is Urban Decay,
'Siren' is Lime Crime
metallic orange is also from my ULTA metallic palette.

I love it.
I've never used all the colors together before and I think they look gorgeous together.

What do you guys think?!

Urban Decay haul!!

Happy Friday!
Man, have I got some exciting new goodies for you today! :D
So I was meandering around in Ulta the other day,
and I finally decided to buy a couple things i've had my eyes on for awhile now.
We've had a lot of nail polish the past couple weeks,
let's get back to my first love- makeup!

Here's my haul:
UD's Ammo palette, UD's 24/7 Blending Brush, sample of UD's brand new liquid foundation, AND UD's 'Asphyxia'

HOLLAAAA ! :)
I want to focus on the palette for now.
(i'll do posts featuring the other items soon, don't worry :p)

So this is UD's Ammo palette:

Now this palette is nothing new; it was released awhile ago.
I had kind of overlooked it, because i THOUGHT I already had most of the shades here in other palettes- but turns out I was wrong. Finally realizing this, I quickly scooped it up.
The only shade from this I already have is 'Sin'. I've had 'Sin' forever, and its one of my absolute favorite neutrals. Many of the other shades in this palette remind me faintly of other UD shades, but I bought it anyway :p

Let's see swatches!

As you can see, it's a mixture of all kinds of velvety shades. All of that amazing shimmer that I love most about UD, while 3 are even packed with some microglitter. I have a couple UD shades already that have microglitter, and i'm not a super big fan of them- but I have a feeling I might change my mind after using these :)

Do any of you have this palette?
Or shades?
What are your thoughts?
Have a great day! :)

'Crazy Easter' eye tutorial! (pic heavy)

Happy Saturday!
So some of the feedback from my giveaway that I got was that severallll of you asked for makeup tutorials.
I asked you guys to vote on which look you wanted me do to,
and the 'Crazy Easter' look won.
So here we go!

Step 1.
Apply an eyeshadow primer. I don't always use then when I use prestige cosmetics (like Urban Decay) b/c their staying power is already AWESOME, but it's a good safe measure.

Step 2.
With a fat, round brush that came with the palette,
I applied 'metallic' yellow from ULTA's metallic palette. I swipe from the corner outward, usually 2 or 3 'coats' for opacity.

Step 3.
I applied the next shade in my rainbow of colors- UD's 'Graffiti'. I chose to do it with my finger because there's not as much fallout and I also find it easier to manipulate applying it on a small area as opposed to a makeup brush. Weird?

Step 4.
I continue my layers of colors using UD's 'Peace'. Again, I applied with my finer (though a different finger this time). I overlap each layer just SLIGHTLY with the color in front of it, blending a bit as I go- but not too much. I save really blending well until the end, for some reason...

Step 5.
I apply my final color, UD's 'Junkshow' on the outer corner of my eye. No matter what color I use, I almost always apply in this area with my pinky. The rounded top is just the perfect size to apply the color. I have my finger positioned like so, and sweep outward.

Step 6.
(sorry for the crappy pic)
Here I used my UD Crease brush to apply UD's 'Ransom' on my brow bone.

Step 7.
Here I've applied the same colors on my lower lash line with a Shadow brush,
and applied eyeliner along my waterline.

Step 8.
Lastly, I apply my liquid eyeliner along the top of my upper lashes and winged it out slightly.
I also finally applied my mascara.
I really feel like these last two steps REALLLY help open up my eyes :)

Final Product:

:)

I hope you guys found this helpful and liked it!
Please give me any feedback you think of so I know what I need to continue/improve upon!
Have a great night!

ULTA haul!

Hellooooo.
So I was in Hallmark today browsing around,
and it JUST SO HAPPENS to also be in the same shopping center as ULTA :O
So of course I had to drop in and peruse a bit.
And buy stuff :)

Here's what I picked up:

Some minis from OPI's new Spiderman collection!
I'm not into the movie at all,
but some of these polishes look pretty neat.

My first BL's !

Urban Decay's 24/7 Eyeliner pencils in 'Graffiti' and 'Woodstock'.
I've got several other of these liners,
but no way to sharpen them- so I also got UD's Grind House sharpener :)

What do you guys think of my new additions?
Do any of you have these?
Let me know!
:D

Not Sure What to Name this Look...

Hey everyone.
I just did the 'worlds fastest' 4 minute workout and I want to die.
It's almost too much to use my fingers to type :x
Perhaps going straight to that after not working out in a long time wasn't the best choice...

ANYWAY,
I have a new look for you tonight!
It's super bright and happy,
but it kind of came to me on a whim & I have no idea what to name it :/
We did biochemistry in class today and my brain (not to mention my body) is just too fried to think!

So here's what I came up with:

(prior to eyeliner here^)

I used:
Too Faced's Eyeshadow Insurance
ULTA's 'metallic white' on inner corners
ULTA's 'metallic yellow' on middle of lid
Sugarpill's 'Buttercupcake' on middle of lid
Urban Decay's 'Graffiti' on outer corners
UD's 'Half Truth' in crease
UD's 'Fishnet' on brow bone
UD's 'Ransom' 24/7 pencil on waterline
Too Faced's Lashgasm Mascara
Covergirl's Line Exact Liquid Eyeliner

So perhaps since I was working with 3 different finishes of shadow,
it was a bit hard to blend and doesn't look as fluid as I'd like :/
It could also be because I just need more practice using these shadows together... :p

Regardless, i really love the color combo.
It's bright and happy and great for summer, I feel like
:)

I'm hoping to have another installation in my Serendipity series soon,
so stay tuned for that!
Thanks for reading, ya'll!

newest additions to the wish list!

Hey guys :)
As much as it sucks to be back from the beach, there's still something nice about being able to just relax on the couch with my favorite blanket...
... But that's only nice for a day.
Then i'll be ready for the beach again. Meh.

There's a million things I could be doing to pack up the apartment to move, but i'm just too drained from driving today to do anything but sit here :x

Anyway, i've found/added so many new things for my little wish list I just had to finally write them down so I wouldn't forget them, and i'm also curious to see if any of you have them or any opinions/recommendations on them, as well.
SO HERE WE GO.

1) Sugarpill's 'SweetHeart' palette

I was waiting to buy this until I tried the 'Burning Heart' palette since it was the first product i've tried of theirs, but now that I know i LOVE IT, i want this palette immediately. I see myself purchasing this in the very near future :p

2) Urban Decay's NAKED2 palette

Most all of you know this palette; it's nothing new. Despite the fact that I use neutrals on a daily basis, i've never found myself drawn to either Naked palettes because I already had my favorite neutrals that I used, and I didn't want to deviate  from them... until now. Naked2 actually still has some of my favorites in it, but with just a few more that I'd like to try. And with me using neutrals as often as I do, there's really no reason why I SHOULDN'T have this :p

3) ULTA's metallic palette

This little sucker turned out to be quite the gem. I had no idea when I bought it how AWESOME it would be, and how much I would totally love it. Unfortunately, I was trying to carry too much recently, and this palette took an accidental tumble down a flight of stairs :( Leaving much of it al broken... so being that it's only $10 (or was last time I checked), I'd like a new one, me thinks.

4) Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette- Mi Vida Loca
This little beauty is really just on a whim. I've never used any Kat Von D cosmetics and don't know a thing about them, (which makes me hesitant to get it), but the colors sure do look vivid and tempting. Do any of you know anything about this line of hers and the quality? Any help would be appreciated :)

5) Select Urban Decay's Deluxe Eyeshadows

Knowing that a few of my favorites shades from UD are being discontinued, I feel that now is really the time to stock up on them here, as they are currently still offered as Deluxe Shadows (and may remain so, i don't know). I've got several favorites (Peace, Zero, Underground, Graffiti, etc.), one of which is also 'Ransom', which is pictured above. I haven't found shadows that are REALLLY that comparable to these, so I want to grab 'em before they're gone.

Tada! I'm sure I have more, but I can't think of them right now :x
What do you guys think?
Which would you like to see most?

Thanks for reading!

ice!

good evening, friends!
So apparently yesterday was my 100th post! yay!
ALSO, hello, welcome, & thank you to my new followers :))

So after the creatively lacking title of yesterday's post, I decided to follow that same theme and title today's 'Ice'.

I'm a little disheartened because my pictures did not translate the actual look, even though I tried them in every kind of light, including daylight (which is usually the best). Despite that, I decided to post them anyway :/

*outside, no flash

*me and my shnoz
*close up
** inside, flash

So, there you have it. meh.
In these photos, it looks a lot like other stuff i've done :(
BUT I PROMISE IT LOOKS DIFFERENT.

I used:
'metallic white' from Ulta in the inner corners
Urban Decay's 'Crystal' on the middle lid
'metallic blue' from Ulta on outer corners
Urban Decay's 'Uzi' on inner corners
UD's 'Zephyr' on brow bone and eyelashes

To me, this look is icy. I really liked the look 'Zephyr' gave when dusted on my eyelashes (though of course that was one of the things that didn't translate well in photos).

ANYWAY,
that's 'ice' for ya.
Wish it had translated better, but oh well :/
Hope everyone has a great night!

fire!

Hey guys :)
I've cleaned the whole apartment, got most of the laundry done, my daughter is in bed... & I don't know what to do with myself :p SO I SHALL BLOG.

Today I have a look for you that's one of my favorite 'bolder' looks. I've worn it a couple times over the past year &  gotten several compliments on it, which brings at least some relief that i'm not crazy in what I come up with on my eyes :p

I dubbed it 'fire' because i feel completely lazy in the creativity department right now & just went with stating the obvious :x

* shade, no flash

*inside, with flash, before eyeliner

So there you have it.
I absolutely LOVE these shades together on brown eyes; they can really pop... though I feel like these shades look best together when at least 2 of them have a shimmer or metallic finish to it.
I usually wear it with something that has red or at least 1 of these other colors in it.
This look is actually SUPER simple to do. I just applied them in sections & did a teeeeeny amount of blending!

I used:
'metallic white', 'yellow', & 'orange' from Ulta's metallic palette
Urban Decay's 'Skimp' on brow bone

So there you have it.
I think it's a nice, summery look :)
What do you guys think?!

Easter look #2

Hellooooo.
So today was cloudy and rainy & totally NOT a good day to end Zoya week on... so I'll continue that tomorrow, if the weather allows :)
Instead, I decided to try my hand at another Easter look, this time something a bit more bold.
After surfing Google images a bit, I saw this look recreated a few times, so I figured I'd have a go at it.
Here's my version!

*eyeliner
*no eyeliner
** fluorescent lighting, no flash

* indoor, flash

Voila!

No obviously this isn't a look I'd do out in public with to the grocery or something, but it was super fun to do. This is probably the craziest I've ever done, & it definitely got me excited to try some more.

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
'metallic yellow' from Ulta palette on corners
Urban Decay's 'Graffiti' (green)
UD's 'Peace' (blue)
UD's 'Junkshow' (pink)
UD's 'Ranson' on brow bone

Woo!
I feel like this is super festive and fun xD
What do you guys think?!
Have a good night!

Easter look #1

Hey guys :)
So after doing my Easter nails last night it really got me in the mood to do a look with Easter colors. This could go any number of directions, but I decided to go the delicate route with this first one.

* inside, with flash

* close up, fluorescent light

I'd never played with this color combo before, but i LOVE it. Its so girly and fun. I wasn't sure exactly how this was going to turn out, so I'm glad it resulted in something like this.

Swatches (from L to R):
'metallic white' from Ulta's metallic palette
'metallic yellow' " "
 Urban Decay's 'Sphynx'
UD's 'Fishnet'

The first two colors are pretty self explanatory. Though it's hard to tell in the pictures, 'Sphynx' is a gorgeous, light, and shimmery pink with tiny pieces of holographic glitter. 'Fishnet' is a rich, shimmery magenta shade with a purple tint to it.

I barely used any pencil or liquid eyeliner because I really wanted the 'softness' of the shades to stand out, & was afraid by using eyeliner like I usually do, it would look much too heavy.
I feel as thought I could have done a bit better job blending, but oh well.
Next time I might also use a bit more of 'Fishnets', just to make it slightly more dramatic.
