Zoya 'Marnie'

Happy Saturday!

I took advantage of the latest Zoya sale (3 for $15; or maybe it was $18?),

and today's polish was one of the ones I picked!

Here's 2 coats of Zoya's 'Marnie'.

'Marnie' is a plumish/mauve colored cream from the Naturel 2 collection.

It was a bit more runny that I would have liked,

but it's still a lovely shade that is perfect for Fall.

Hello, fellow bloggers!

After graduating college, moving to a new city, starting a new job, AND getting married-

I FINALLY have a little time to get back to blogging!

... and only because it's Fall Break :P

Hopefully, I can get the ball rolling again and post at least twice a week

:)

I will preface this by saying that after all the stress the past several months has held,

my nails are crap.

I've bit and picked at them to the point that they are nowhere near presentable to be photographed-

at least now for a nail/beauty blog.

For tonight, since Fall is finally here, I have a lovely little Fall-ish lipstick.

Here's Maybelline's 'Maple Kiss':

I snagged this beauty from the drugstore the other day.

I'm sure it's not a new product,

but it's still lovely for Fall :)

Zoya- 'Taylor'

I've got another lovely Zoya for you today.

I bought this once from their most recent promotion,

and I obviously HAD to buy it since it bears my name :)

Also, I've been on the hunt for good, neutral, wedding polishes

and this definitely looked promising online.

Here's 2 coats of 'Taylor'.

'Taylor' is a "light toffee creme". It is indeed very light,

but looked a bit different on my nails than I expected.

I still like it, though.

Not sure if it's quite THE wedding polish I was looking for, though,

so I'm still on the hunt!

Zoya Pixiedust 'Godiva'

Hooray!

I've finally bought myself a Pixiedust!

I've loved these polishes ever since they came out awhileeee ago,

but i've just now gotten around to buying one.

I purchased a few polishes lately that seemed like they'd be good to wear to a wedding

(seeing as how I'm in one and am having my own this year),

so that's what I was thinking when I bought this one.

Here's 2 coats of 'Godiva' !

'Godiva' is a champagne/sand colored glitter,

but is offically described as a "soft nude" with "sugared sparkle" ;P

Maybelline- Totally Toffee

So as promised, I have a lovely Fall lipstick for you today.

We are quickly approaching the Fall season, and my plethora of brights ain't gonna cut it lipwise anymore.

Being that Maybelline is my favorite drugstore brand for lipsticks,

I snagged this beauty:

It's a gorgeous toffee-toupe shade.

Once on, I noticed it has a hint of shimmer that I really loved.

It's smooth and neutral, and can go with almost anything.

This is a GREAT basic Fall lipstick to have for the upcoming season.

I highly recommend!

Everyday Makeup Routine

Despite some of the bright and crazy looks I do here,

I rarely do them in real life :P

Though i've pretty much always stuck with neutrals for my everyday eye look,

I change the combo often.

I've gone over that some before,

but I want to take it a step further & show you all the products I use for a basic,

fresh, day look!

Here's my current routine:

1. Apply eyeshadow primer on a fresh face.

I use either Too Faced's Shadow Insurance or this one by UD.

2. Apply eyeshadow (all from UD's Vice Palette) with brushes. 

I've listed the order in which I use each brush:

Brush 1 applies 'Anonymous' (third from left on bottom) on brow bone.

Brush 2, 3, & 4 apply 'Nevermind' (first one on left of bottom row) to crease, blending as I go.

Brush 5 applies 'Echo Beach' (to the left of 'Nevermind') to lid.

3. Apply eyeliner to waterline.

Unless I'm doing a look for the blog or a fancier look,

I don't apply eyeliner anywhere other than my waterline.

Just because of the larger almond shape of my eyes,

I feel it looks best fresh above the lashes!

4. Apply mascara/curl lashes with curler.

This is my current go-to mascara :)

5. Apply foundation with brush.

I've posted about UD's foundation & their Optical Blurring Brush before.

Both are fantastic!

I wait to apply foundation until this point so that I may more easily sweep up any fall out from eyeshadow or mascara :)

6. Apply blush.

This baby has been used a ton, thus the faded label.

This is Tarte's Cheek Stain.

It's the ONLY blush I use because it applies easily and stays on throughout my day :)

Though pricey at prestige cosmetic stores,

you can find it the exact same and MUCH cheaper on Amazon and/or Ebay!

I finish off with a setting spray.

This is the routine i've used for my everyday look for at least a month or two (maybe longer) now. It takes me less than 15 minutes and is a great daytime neutral.

The shadows are just barely noticeable, and the mascara/blush give me a young, fresh feeling.

my 'go-to' look & Laine blogger award

Anyway, I know I do a lot of more over the top looks,

so today I figured I'd post my newest everyday, daytime, 'go-to' look.

*outdoor light, shade

So I really love this look.

 It's a great subtle, neutral look that goes with anything, is super easy to do, & takes MAYBE 5 minutes. 

I used(all Urban Decay):

'Spotlight' on the inner corners

'Wreckage' on the outer corners

'Skimp' on the brown bone

All can be seen here in UD's Mariposa palette!

the little black dress of eye shadow

Gooooooooood morning!

I was really hoping to wake up to some snow this morning like the rest of Tennessee, but alas, all we get is rain :/ ... Which is a perfect excuse to stay inside & blog today instead of the other 2352325 things i need to do :p

This morning I want to talk about 'the little black dress' of eye shadow- drumroll please- the daytime neutral! 

This is a look that can be worn with almost anything & takes very little time to do- perfect for those of us with a busy lifestyle & not a lot of time to devote to primping. Personally, this is a look I use almost daily because (aside from it being quick&easy to apply) it gives me a bit more 'umph' in my step. I also really like the simplicity it implies.

Eye shadow never quite looks  the same in pictures as it does in real life :/

This is my version of the daytime neutral. (Forgive my weird, creepy half-open eye- was the only way I could get the look to translate).

Midnight 15, Half Baked, Shag, Underground

Mushroom, Twice Baked

The number of swatches that I used may in and of itself seem like more hassle than it's worth, BUT, this is my personal version. One could easily just use 2 or 3 of these shades & achieve almost the same look. This look is one that i've done so often that i've personalized it a bit, and it still only takes me a few minutes to do.

I begin by dabbing some 'Half Baked' & 'Shag' on the middle of my eyelid. Then i use my pinky finger to get a bit of 'Midnight 15' and dab that on the inner corners of my eye. After that I put a bit of 'Underground' on the outermost of my eye, followed by 'Mushroom' (I showed Twice Baked in the picture as well because I sometimes use that instead of Mushroom), which I then slightly sweep upwards in a horizontal V. Lastly, I go back over the look and blend as needed

Again, not all these steps or shades are necessary- this is just my personal version :)

Regardless, this look is a great, fresh, daytime look that anyone can do!
