'Pussy Riot' inspired look!

Happy Fridayyyyyy!
:D

So in case some of you are like 'WTF' at the title,
it's a punk rock girl group in Russia,
and currently they're being imprisoned and on trial for (basically) not agreeing with Putin (gasp! how dare they). Who is Putin? Well, he's the douche  in charge of Russia.
It's a sad story, but liberating also.

So in honor of the movement,
I decided to create a bold and girly look today!
I got do digging in my makeup case and found some sample shadows from Beauty From the Earth that I got AGES ago, and haven't used yet!
So here's what I came up with!

BAM. I'd like to wear this and go b*tchslap Putin in the face, but I digress...

Here's what I used:
Urban Decay's Primer Potion
BFTE's 'Raspberry' on lid
BFTE's 'Last Dance ' on outer lid/crease
UD's 'Vanilla' on brow bone/highlight
Covergirl Lashblast Volume mascara
Covergirl liquid eyeliner

So what do you guys think?
'Raspberry' turned out to be much more hot pink than I though it was, and i LOVED it. This was really the first time i've used any BFTE shadows, and they were AWESOME. They weren't pressed like i'm used to using with UD and Sugarpill, but it worked out fine. They're so pigmented and give that lovely shimmer that I'm a sucker for. I've got several others and now i'm stoked to create some looks with them also!

Let me know what you guys think :)
Thanks for reading!

China Glaze- 'I'm Not Lion'

Hey guys.
Quick NOTD for you today.
I didn't think I was going to be able to do any nail posts because yesterday,
my stupid, peel-y, brittle nails screwed me again. The other day my middle nail just split in half out of nowhere. WTF. So basically I was afraid they wouldn't be fit to be photographed for awhile- until I found this bad boy.

I honestly wasn't a fan of really any of the polishes released in the On Safari collection, except this one. And it is GORGEOUS!

Look at all that holo!! yummy

'I'm Not Lion' is a sand colored gold & holographic glitter. Depending upon the light, the glitter loses the holo and legit just looks like sand :/ But I love it anyway, because when you DO see that holo- man! so pretty! I know this stuff is going to be a pain in the butt to remove, so i'm leaving it one for awhile and letting it protect my sad little nail, also.

What do you guys think?
Do any of you have this polish?

The Penguin Makeup Challenge- Day 3!

Hey everyone!
So i'm stoked, yet also sad, to bring you the last look for the Penguin Makeup Challenge!
I've had fun playing around and trying to come up with looks for each week.
It's given me half a mind do another makeup challenge :p
SO, for today we had to use white & another color.
I was a little indecisive about my look, so I kept adding things to it until I was happy :0

First,

Here I just used 2 colors with a little flick of white eyeliner.
BUT I decided I needed something a little more...

* sorry this is blurry :/

So I lined my upper lash line. I liked this just fine,
but I felt like I should make it a little more fun if I could.

I finally decided to add a little double wing on the eyeliner. Nothing crazy, but a little more fun than the average way I had it before.

I used:
Sugarpill's 'Tako' in inner corners & brow bone
SP's 'Buttercupcake' on rest of lid
Lime Crime's 'Lunar Sea' uniliner
Covergirl Lashblast mascara

What do you guys think?
I'm kind of on the fence about it.
It reminds me of lemonade, haha.
Ah well. It's a combo I haven't really used before,
so it was fun to play with these.

Make sure you check out all the other lovely ladies participating!

'Asphyxiated' look

Hey everyone!
Hope your day has gone fabulously.
Quick post today-
I have a look for you featuring a couple of my newer shadows.

*straight on

So aside from greens and blues, purples are another absolute favorite of mine to wear on my eyes!

Swatches (all Urban Decay):
* FRom L to R: 'Rockstar', 'Grifter', 'Asphyxia' & 'Polyester Bride'

I like that the purples in this look are a bit more subdued than many of the other looks i've done with purples. This is totally something I would wear out. I really love it.

What do you guys think?!?
Thanks for reading :)

Dollish Polish's 'Dolly DOES Polish' review (pic heavy)

Greetings, ladies!
So some of you may have seen my little 'adult' series I did recently featuring an entire collection from Dollish Polish.
There were so many polishes and posts that I figured I would now do a concise post summarizing my thoughts about the collection as a whole, in case any of you want to purchase it or any other polishes from her!

Here's the entire collection- 'Dolly DOES Polish'.

This is a set of 9 minis of a rainbow of gorgeous shimmers, each with glass flecks of assorted colors. I got the entire collection here for $40.50.
What drew me most to this collection (aside from me being a sucker for shimmer) was each polish's HILARIOUS name. In case you haven't noticed by the collection's title- they're all sexual innuendos of some kind. Right up my alley ;P

In case you missed any of my series, here's a quick pic summary of each polish.

'Slippery When Wet'
'Skeet Skeet Skeet'

'Baby Gravy'

'Dining at the Pink Taco'

I really have nothing but good things to say about these guys.
Here's what I liked:
- Arrived in the mail super fast
- Beautiful shimmers every color of the rainbow that sparkle like crazy in sunlight!
- Great consistency
- Went on SUPER, super smoothly and flawlessly
- Many were sheer, but it was very easy to build opacity
- Dried quickly
- Did not easily chip
- HILARIOUS names

What I didn't like:
- the price :/ At $40 (before tax), it has each mini selling for about $4.50. BUT- It's actually a pretty standard price for indie polish maker's minis, and totally worth it for these little beauties!

All in all, a fantastic product that I'm very glad I purchased. Go here for this collection & many other of her polishes!!

SO,
Which polish is your favorite from the series?
Let me know! :)

More UD goodies & Essie NOTD (pic heavy)

Hello, fine people!
Happy Friday!
I've got some more exciting little goodies to share with you today :)
BUT, first I want to get my little NOTD.

I was browsing in Walgreens awhile ago and came across an Essie display with some fantastic little numbers, so I grabbed a couple.
One of these was 'Pilates Hottie' !
*Two coats*

'Pilates Hottie' is a very light lilac creme. It was a little underwhelming on the shelf, but on my nails- i love it! It totally surprised me. As with many other Essies and cremes (for me), application was a little tough. Two coats was more than enough to achieve opacity, though, and like I said- it's really a great little toned-down shade. Gives you a pop of color but is calming enough to not be too crazy.

Moving on to my Urban Decay goodies!
So many of you know UD had a AWESOME, HUGE sale a few days ago.
Despite having just dropped some money at Ulta on some UD products, i couldn't NOT take advantage of the sale O_o
Here's what I got!

I got allllll this for $43! Now that's what i'm talking about.

Holiday nail kit. Nothing new, but i've had my eyes on it for awhile. I've never tried any UD nail polishes!

'The Black Palette'
Obviously punk rock, AC/DC, Black Sabbath inspired with some rockin' rich, jewel toned shadows. The only I already have is 'Cobra', so i'm stoked to try these out.

Here's swatches!

Also, I got 2 vintage eyeshadows (normally $17 bucks apiece) for $9 each!

Turns out that (oopsies) I already have 'Last Call' in another palette I just bought :X
SO, methinks i'll put that in my next giveaway!
I'll have swatches/a look with these soon.

SO, what do you think about my little haul?
Or about the Essie?
Let me know! :)

Serendipity Inspired- 'Cap'n Smudge'

Hey everyone!
Hope your week has gone well.
I realized I have two more weeks instead of two days off before fall semester starts,
so i'm pretty stoked at the moment :)

ALSO, it's been awhile since I did a look in my series 'Serendipity Inspired',
so I took the opportunity today to create another one.
(In case you have no idea what i'm talking about, this is a makeup series based off a series of amazingly illustrated and creatively written children's books).
You can see here, here, and here for other looks in the series so far.

Today's look is based off the creature Serendipity (for whom the series is named) in the book 'Cap'n Smudge':

She basically patrols the seas and makes sure no one pollutes them,
as Cap'n Smudge is wont to do :x
So she teaches him a lesson.
Anyway,
the colors in her are so bright that I figured they'd be great for a look.
Here's what I came up with!

So as I was posting this,
I realized it looks similar to a look i've already done several months ago :X oh well.

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
'Tako' by Sugarpill in inner corners
'Dollipop' by SP on lid
'Junkshow' by UD on lid
'Misdemeanor' by UD in outer corners and crease
'Homegrown' & 'Graffiti' by UD on crease, brow bone, and lower lash line
Covergirl's Lashblast mascara
Covergirl's liquid eyeliner

I never could quite get a pic does the look justice, because it looks way better in person, in my opinion. but oh well. Despite using my new blending brush, I didn't blend the white and pink as well as I would have liked, but it's better than last time I did something like this. Practice makes perfect. Or so they say... Overall, I liked this look. It's definitely not something I'd feel comfortable wearing out in public because it's a little too much for me.

Well, what do you guys think?
Which look is your favorite from the series so far?

ALSO,
check out my latest look from the Penguin Makeup Challenge!
Thanks for reading!

The Penguin Makeup Challenge- Day 2

Hello, lovlies! :)
I'm pretty stoked about today's post because it's the second look for the Penguin Makeup Challenge! (see Day 1 here)
Today's look had to be ONLY black and another color.
I've been itching to use some fantastic blues that I have,
so now was my perfect chance :)

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
Urban Decay's 'Deep End' & 'Jinx' on lid
UD's 'Blackout' & 'Oil Slick' on outer corner and crease
UD's 'Shattered' on brow bone
Covergirl liquid eyeliner
Covergirl Lashblast mascara

I have to say, I really, really liked this look.
As I've said before, I really like bright blues against my eye color.
The pigmentation of 'Deep End' and 'Jinx' are amazing.
Unfortunately I don't think either color is available anymore :(
But UD's 'Haight' comes pretty close and could possssssibly do the trick instead.
'Blackout' is of course UD's infamous matte, pitch black shadow that's amazing.
I added 'Oil Slick' for the glitter and extra shimmer :p
Since we could only use TWO colors,
I didn't get to highlight my brow bone with 'Vanilla' like I like to,
so I made do with a tiny bit of 'Shattered' instead.

The look isn't quite as polished as I'd like,
but I totally love it anyway.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?!

Check out the other awesome ladies participating in this challenge :)

Glitterdaze- 'Flower Girl'

Hola!
I have the last polish in the little group I bought from GlitterDaze awhile ago for you tonight.
(see the others here, here, and here)
Without further ado,
here's 'Flower Girl'.

1 coat of 'Flower Girl' over 2 coats of OPI.

So this is 'Flower Girl' over OPI's 'Pink Friday'
(please excuse the total crap job of nail painting).
'Flower Girl' is a clear base with a rainbow of different colored hexagonal glitters inside, including holographic pink, red, green, turquoise, orange and gold bar glitter, and purple flower glitter- thus it's name.

This is a great topcoat that can go with almost any polish, but after trying it over a variety of colors, I liked this the best. It's a fun little polish, but I wish there had been more blossoms since it IS called 'flower girl' :/

It's not as unique as I hoped it would be,
but it's still pretty great.
You can get this polish along with alllllll Glitterdaze's awesome polish on their Etsy site.
This mini was $4.85.

So an overall not that impressive post,
but oh well!
Have a great day!

'Sea foam' look

Hey guys!
I don't know about where you live,
but its been icky and rainy here all day :/
BUT on the bright side,
it gave me a chance to play with my new UD palette!

Here's a look I came up with- i've dubbed it 'Sea foam' :)

So I know this is blurry, but out of the 2523 pics i took, it was the only one that really showed the pigment well. Sorry :/

*natural light, no flash

 *straight-on shot indoors, with flash.

*close up in fluorescent light

I used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
UD's 'Polyester Bride' in inner corners
UD's 'Mildew' & 'Shattered' on lid
UD's 'Evidence' in crease
UD's 'Vanilla' on brow bone
Maybelline eyeliner in black
Covergirl Lashblast mascara in black

So all shadows except the last 2 are from the Ammo palette. 'Mildew' and 'Shattered' have caught my eye for awhile, so I was elated when I saw they came in this palette. This was my first time working with them and 'Polyester Bride', and i loved them all! Not surprisingly :)
I really love blues and greens on my eyes, because I feel it really makes them pop.
I was totally happy with this look :D

What do you guys think?!

July favorites!

Hellooooo!
So obviously July ended several days ago,
but i've just now had time to do my favorites :x
SO I'M DOING THEM NOW.

*not my picture

So I featured this polish awhile back in my 'Live Loud!' week. It's a fantastic, orange juice- colored neon from the Poolside collection released a couple years ago. It's really just such a bright, fun, summery color that is perfect for right now, and i've just really been feeling it. Even my pompous Lit. professor commented on how he liked it! :p
I DEFINITELY suggest this!

Yet another thing orange! :)
So i'm not a big struggler with acne,
but I like to use at least a little something to wash my face.
I hate to admit it, but though i'm always good about taking my eye makeup off,
i'm NOT good about washing the rest of my face :( so bad (and gross), i know.
ANYWAY, I was looking for something simple to start using,
and I really love this stuff.
It has Vitamin C and Gensing in it, as well as these little beads that burst and exfoliate your skin. It's really like getting a mini facial before you get ready for the day :)
love it!

3. Urban Decay's 'Blackout'

So many of you probably know this shadow.
IT'S ONLY ONE OF THE BEST BLACKS OUT THERE.
I've had this shade for over a year now,
and I never cease to fall in love with it again.
I've had more nights this month than usual where I've gone out,
and i LOVE to use this shadow for a nighttime look. It's a lovely, matte, seductive, solid black
that can obviously go with anything.
ACTUALLY, i'll probably be using this in the newt week or two during the Penguin Makeup Challenge !

I know that's not much,
but that's really it for July this month!
What do you guys think of these products?
Ever tried any of them?
