Day 4: child's favorite movie

Good evening, everyone!
Today is Day 4 of the children's nail art challenge- favorite movie!
Again, seeing as how my daughter is too little to really have a favorite movie yet,
I just went with what one of MY favorite movies was as a child...

Fern Gully!

In case you've never seen this movie (for shame!),
it's about some fairies and animals that live in a giant tree in a rainforest.
Suddenly, humans come in and try to cut everything down,
so it's now the forest's inhabitant's new mission to stop them.
... sound familiar?
Yeah, James Cameron kind of TOTALLY stole the idea for Avatar :p

Anyway,
there were a million routes I could have gone for this mani.
Due to lack to time,
I decided to do some basic stamping.

So on my thumb you have a pathetically done sun,
with ferns and other plants on all my other fingers.
On the ring finger.... well, I was going for some whimsical fairy orbs or something,
but it just turned into colored dots... -.-
OH WELL.

Obviously the ferns and plants apply because that's what the forest is made of,
and the idea behind the dots was to represent the whimsy behind the fairies,
since I'm not artistically talented enough to draw one of those :p

I used:
Thumb: NOPI's 'Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam'; BM04 plate; Zoya 'Pippa' for sun
Pointer: Nubar's 'Reclaim'; BM19 plate
Middle: Zoya's 'Ivanka' BM03 plate
Ring: Nubar's 'Reclaim'; OPI's 'A Grape Fit'; China Glaze's 'White on White'
Pinky: Zoya's 'Ivanka'; BM03 plate

This definitely wasn't my favorite thing that I've ever done,
but it worked okay for this :/

Rasta mani & mini haul

TGIF!
Woo! Another week closer to Spring Break- yus.

So yesterday I went into ULTA & rewarded myself just a tad :$

Urban Decay's Melt Down Makeup Remover!

Too Faced's Glamour Dust

UTLA's metallic palette

yay!
I've used several things from the first 2 brands,
but I've never tried ULTA's eye shadow before,
so I'm anxious to see how that goes.
:)

Also,
it was a staggering freaking 75 degrees here yesterday,
and totally felt weird & summery.
This somehow got me reminiscing on my summer trip to Jamaica a few years ago,
so I figured I'd do a little mani in honor of that.

* indoor light, no flash
I purposely didn't want the black lines and colors in my middle finger to look precise. It looks more artsy to me that way- like it was done with a paint brush or something.
I did this little design using inspiration from the Jamaican flag :)

* a rare pic of my right hand :o

Polishes:
Zoya's 'Kimmy' on thumb (LOVE this)
Nubar's 'Reclaim' on index
Zoya's 'Pippa' on middle
Sinful Colors' 'What's Your Name' on ring
Zoya's 'Gaia' (LOVE) on pinky

ya mon.
there you have it.

Do any of you have any of the products I bought from ULTA?
If so, what are your thoughts on them?
Thanks for reading,
& have a great day!
:D

it's a bird!... it's a plane!... it's a speckled dragon!!

okay so, aside from the corny austin powers reference, these polishes are pretty awesome.
I think this little look is super fun & i just might keep it on my nails longer than the usual one day :)

I used 2 coats of CG's 'Flying Dragon' and followed with 2 coats of 'Nubar 2010'. 'Flying Dragon', though super pretty in the bottle, dries matte (which I didn't know when I bought it) and it was hard to see the little blue glitter in it. SO I decided to use Nubar 2010 (which I hadn't used yet) to give it some shine and a little extra UMPH. And boy howdy did it work. I really like the speckled effect it gives.

Anyway, nothing too special considering i'm not the nail artist that most of you are (& make up is my true passion anyway), but still a fun little look :)

What do you guys think?!

going green

Woooo! I'm pretty stoked about today's post because I tried out my first holographic polish! I bought Nubar's 'Reclaim' off Amazon for a sweet price and got it just in time for Christmas...

and i LOVE IT.
It's from the Going Green collection and is a beautiful holographic green. The effect it has is seriously mesmerizing- especially in the sunlight :)

of course as they were drying i messed up my pointer finger :/

see what i mean! I used 2 coats here & a top coat, and it turned out totally awesome. I'm definitely going to have to invest in some more Nubar polishes for sure. What do you guys think?!

Do any of you have Nubar polishes that you're crazy about?
let me know! :D
