Sweater Weather nails

Well even though we haven't gotten any snow today (yet),
 a lot of others have.
Here's a cute little snowy weather sweater mani :)

I'm pleased, for once my nail art looks pretty good!
:)))

This is OPI's 'Lost on Lombard' stamped with
Winstonia plate W120 & Sally Hansen 'White On' polish.

What do ya'll think?

Winstonia Hearts

So I pretty much suck at stamping,
but every now and then I'll try it.
Here's a time that I've tried it and it actually looks somewhat okay!

Here's a cute heart pattern from one of my Winstonia plates:

I used CG's 'Cranberry Splash' as a base,
Sally Hansen's 'White On' to stamp with,
and Winstonia plate W102.

The white wasn't as bold as I would have liked,
but the pattern still transfered okay :)
Yay!

Spotted: Fall!

Now that Fall (and bits of winter?) is definitely here to stay,
I decided to do fun & simple Fall nail art :)
I love using my dotting tool,
so I just went with that.

That's Zoya's 'Flynn' as a base,
and the dots are Sally Hansen's 'Red Carpet', Zoya's 'Thandie',
& an unnamed metallic gold from Kleancolor :)

I'm no pro at nail art,
thus why I never do it,
but I wanted to at least attempt some this time.

Halloween Glitter Gradient

So I purchased a black & white glitter from Maybelline awhile ago,
but i've been saving it for the Halloween season to swatch :)
I found a look on Pinterest with a similar glitter used as a gradient
over an orange nail, and I knew I had to recreate it.

Here's my attempt!
I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen 'Sun Kissed' as a base
and 'Clearly Spotted ' from Maybelline for the gradient.

'Clearly Spotted ' is a clear base filled with all sizes of black & white
circle and hex glitters.
It's from Maybelline's Color Show, 'Polka Dots' collection.
I figure all these little black & white polishes
are dupes of Lynderella's 'Connect The Dots'-
but I still like it.
Plus, it's only like $6,
so- there's that ;P

The gradient itself is kinda crappy,
but i rarely do nail art...
so when I do, it's mediocre at best.
I still liked this, though :)
What do you guys think?

Sally Hansen 'Platinum'

Hey guys.
I have a polish for you today that i've had for a couple years now,
and for some reason- have yet to wear.
Turns out, it's a lovely little number!

Hears 2 coats of Sally Hansen's 'Platinum'.

'Platinum' is a silky, gorgeous, pearl duochrome shimmer.
It's very tame, but definitely pretty.
Would be great for a wedding or some other formal event :)

*GUESTPOST* by NailsLikeLace

Ok guys,
I've been a little busy lately, so i'm on the hunt for people who want to guestpost for me.
(email me at: taylorhelana@gmail.com if you're interested!!)
I'm super stoked to have NailsLikeLace guest post for me today.
I've followed her blog for quite awhile now,
and her nail art (among other things) is FANTASTIC! :)

Hey everyone!
This is Amber from NailsLikeLace, posting for Taylor, today!
I was playing with some new polishes, trying to come up with an idea for a good guest post,
and I ended up deciding on Grease inspired nails (if you haven't seen that movie,
you are really missing out!).

On all of my nails, I started with a gorgeous, vibrant, neon pink, ORLY Passion Fruit,
then topped off most of my nails with Sally Hansen Star Burst,
one of the very few crackle polishes I actually kind of like.

On the middle nail, though, I wrote the word 'Grease', loosely based off the logo image,
with black and white acrylic paint.

A final coat of Seche Vite to smooth everything out, and I was good to go!
I love how these turned out, and I hope you do, too!

Reindeer nail art fail

Hey ya'll.
I have an attempt at nail art for you today.
Awhile ago on Pinterest I saw these adorable reindeer nails from TopCoat It,
and figured they were something I MIGHT be able to pull off with my limited skill in that area.

My hands are just too shaky,
(thanks a lot, genetics),
and I'm not crazy about how it turned out at all...
but figured i'd post anyway.
Maybe one of you pros can do it and actually do it well! :P

Needless to say, TopCoat It's were MUCH better!
:/

I used:
NOPI's 'Hard-Kourt Fashionista - base
Butter London's 'Yummy Mummy' - antlers
NOPI's 'Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi'- nose
Sally Hansen's 'White On' & Maybelline's 'Onyx Rush'- eyes
dotting tool
nail art brush

With someone who's actually good at nail art,
this can look great.
If any of you re-create this,
let me know! :)
Thanks for reading!

Candy Canes!

Hey!
I've finally got some nail art for you.
It's been forever since i've done any (and i'm not that great at it to begin with),
but I had a go at some candy cane inspired nails the other night.
I actually really liked how it turned out!

Tada!
For my unsteady, shaky hands- i'm rather pleased with this.
Festive and bright! :)
Clean-up is rather messy,
but this mani took me forever so i said screw ittttt :P

I used:
China Glaze 'Ruby Pumps'
Sally Hansen 'White On'
striping tape
Stripe Rite striper in silver

I felt more festive just wearing it :D
What do you think?
What's your favorite Christmas nail art?

Polka Dots & Spiders !

Hey guys :)
So i've had a lot of eye shadow posts lately... let's get back to nail polish for a little while!

It's been awhile since I did any nail art,
So i've tried some today.
I saw this mani on Pinterest awhile ago and was determined to do it myself for Halloween.

I needed to use my dotting tool to make the spiders.
I wasn't sure if I was about to ruin the mani by trying to create some spiders or not,
so I quickly snapped a photo of the dots to have as a backup pic if I needed it.
I'd be perfectly happy with the mani ending like this, to be honest.
But I pressed on...

Tada! I really needed a toothpick to do the eyes,
because my dotting tool was just too big and it all blobbed together.
But whatever. Next time!

I used:
2 coats of Sally Hansen 'Sun Kissed' as base
Maybelline 'Onyx Rush' for spiders
Sally Hansen's 'White On' for eyes
dotting tool

Still have miles to go on my nail art,
but I have a blast doing it :)
What do you think?
Thanks for reading! :)

zesty nails!

hellooooo everyone.

I've been wanting to use my daughter's cute little dress as inspiration some nail art for quite some time, but I was waiting for the warmer weather :) Despite the fact that today just happened to be the coldest day we've had in awhile, the rest of the weather lately has indeed been almost hot!

Luckily I almost have all the colors in it, so I used those plus BM04 plate for this mani!

*close up

I used:
PureICE's 'Wild Thing' as the base
Konad stamping polish in 'pink'
Zoya 'Pippa'
Sally Hansen's 'Sun Kissed'

& here's the inspiration!

I like this mani more than I thought I would, but it's still only meh. I wish the yellow & orange  slices had shown up better, but they weren't polishes specifically for stamping so i'm not surprised.
The worst part was the base polish. It's one of the polishes I've had the longest, & it's consistency was just CRAP. But it was the only polish I had that matched the dress, soooo :/

As soon as I got the plates a couple months ago & saw that stamp, I knew exactly how I wanted to use it. All in all, i ain't mad at it. It's okay :x

What do ya'll think?

Kardashian chick-lettes :p

Wooooooooo for it being Friday!
So I'm getting so stoked seeing all these Easter manis that I figured it was time to do one of my own. I love pastel colors (which are, of course, associated as Easter colors) so this time of year shall be quite fun for me as a blogger :p

Ok, for tonight's inspiration I used a bit of personal history mixed with some classic Easter manis. When my mom was little, her Grandfather (who owned a farm) would always give her & her siblings baby chicks dyed different colors for Easter. They'd keep them for a little bit, then take them back as they got older.
I've also seen some people do some really cute Easter nails using baby chicks doing various things, so I thought I'd follow that line of thought.

First I want to brag about the fantastic base polish I used:
'Ladies in the Limelight' by NOPI's Kardashian Kolor collection.
This is a lovely pastel yellow creme that's sold (I think) exclusively at CVS stores. I bought this just a couple days ago thinking that it would be a great polish for the upcoming holiday... and I was right. I'm usually not a fan of yellow on my nails, but this one is awesome!

Alright, moving on to the chicks...
(messed up my middle finger's eyes last minute & didn't feel like fixing it)

Granted, this is a pre-clean up shot because I was just SURE my daughter was going to wake up & i'd mess them up, (she did) so I took this as soon as I finished.
Anyway, what do you think?!
I love these little guys.
Again, nothing new but it was still fun to do.

I used:
'Ladies in the Limelight' as base (3 coats)
China Glaze's 'Alpine Snow' and a striper/regular brush for the egg shells
black Konad special polish & a dotting tool for the eyes
Sally Hansen's 'Sun Kissed' & dotting tool for the 'beak'

I wish I had been able to clean the mu & get a shot before they got messed up,
but oh well :/
Next time, I suppose.

Whatchya think?
Let me know :)
Have a great rest of the night!
xD

DayGlow splatter mani

hey guys,
super excited about tonight's post.
DayGlow was in town recently & I wasn't able to go due to not having anyone to watch my daughter :/ boo.
SO, i thought I'd at least do a little mani inspired by it's amazingness.

For those of you who don't know what it is,
let me enlighten you:

......

YEAH
THAT F-ING AWESOME.
jangkjabgkjabgjkadbgajkg
:)

Anyway,
I had been wanting to try a splatter mani for awhile & this finally sent me over the hump to do it.

xD

This was a ton of fun to do.
I made a total mess & felt like a 5 year old in art class.
I used the straw method with some cheap bendy straws I found at Kroger.

The polishes I used are:
China Glaze's 'White on White' as the base
Zoya's 'Robyn'
Sally Hansen's 'Sun Kissed'
PureICE's 'Wild Thing'
China Glaze's 'Gorgeous'

It still looks really wonky compared to the other splatter manis i've seenm
but you gotta start somewhere, right?!
:)

cheapo galaxy nails? eh?

HUMPH.
i've got like 6 different things coming from six different companies & I was really hoping I'd have at least ONE of my purchases by now to share with you :/
oh well. Surely by tomorrow something will come in.

ANYWAY,
tonight's look was a little impromptu. I really wanted to use a new Sinful Colors polish I got and a newer glitter, so i figured I'd try them together :P

My boyfriend said they look like "space", so it got me to wondering if they could pass for amateurish galaxy nails? To the untrained eye, maybe... not you nail pros, though ;)

so here we go!
* Sinful Colors' 'What's Your Name' & Sally Hansen's 'Ice Queen'

* fluorescent lighting

* I was trying to capture the tiny blue & purple glitter in 'What's Your Name', but it was hard to do :/

I really, really love 'What's Your Name'. It's black with teeeeeeny blue & purple glitter that can only be seen in the right light, and they make the polish so much more interesting. 'Ice Queen' is a clear base with TEENY silver glitter, small pieces of holographic glitter, and larger, circular blue and purple glitter. Like I said, I was actually quite pleased with the way it turned out.

So there you have it. I'm not a nail artist, but there's my version of cheapo galaxy nails! xD
What do ya think?! :brow

1/5/12

glitter badge!

WHATSUP WHATSUP.
(anyone seen 'Sex Drive'?...)
:]

Okay, so Kaki over at 'Glitter Obsession' gave me this awesome little number.

Ze glitter badge!
If you'd have told me a year ago that I would be as glitter obsessed as I am now I would have laughed in your face. I don't know what it was, but after having a little girl & becoming a mother- I became a WHOLE lot more game to embrace some of the girly things in life that I had snubbed before.

Anyway,
I'm supposed to post some pictures of my favorite glitter polish (to be worthy, of course). Now there's no way that I could pick JUST ONE glitter polish, so i decided to post a swatch of all my favorites :p

* from L to R: China Glaze's 'Snowglobe', CG's ' Blonde Bombshell', PureICE's 'Spit Fire', & Wet  n Wild's 'Party of Five Glitters'

* Sally Hansen's 'In the Spotlight' & OPI's 'How's It Snowin'

* OPI's 'A Sparkle Yule Love'

* Sally Hansen's 'Ice Queen'

Anyway, I absolutely love these 8 glitters. Some are newer & i'll post more in depth swatches of them later on. But this will have to suffice for now?
What do you guys think?!

I now pass this on to:

12/11/11

(mini) haul !

So I went on a mini shopping spree (for i'm on a pathetically strict budget) and got 5 new polishes to add to my teeny tiny collection!

Woo! Since i've recently decided to quit biting my nails, I got these in the hopes that I can wear them soon on my slightly less crappy nails :) HOORAH!

I bought:

Nicole by OPI's 'Rich in Spirit'

Essie's 'Buy me a Cameo'

Nicole by OPI's 'Gone Wishin'

Sally Hansen's 'Platinum'

Sally Hansen's 'Pink Promise'

: )

i'm quite happy with my purchases. I'll try to get some of these on here soon!
Do any of you have any of these already? If so, what do you think about them?
