Zoya Pixie Dust in 'Thea'

So this is the second of the two Pixie Dusts I purchased recently.
I was in love with Lux,
and now here's 2 coats of Thea:

'Thea' is a "deep amethyst with an orchid flash", and it's clearly packed heavy with Pixie Dust holo glitter. I've seen this watched before & I was in love.
The purple/fuschia hybrid color is gorgeous for sure.
The sparkle of the glitter was nowhere near what I saw with Lux, though,
so that was somewhat disappointing.

It's pretty nonetheless! :)

Zoya Pixie Dust 'Lux'

I've only tried one other Pixie Dust from Zoya before,
but I loved it. SO, I was very anxious to try another one.
When Zoya had their last promo,
I scooped up two.

Here's the first: 'Lux'

'Lux' is a "rose quartz" Pixie Dust. They claim opacity is a 4 (on a scale of 1-5), but I would say it's closer to a 3. Here, I've got 2 coats of it over Covergirl's 'Constant Candy'.
I couldn't completely capture the jaw-dropping sparkle of this bad boy,
but it's close enough.
Needless to say, the sparkle & shine is INSANE.
Definitely beautiful!

Zoya 'Blair'

Today I have the second polish from the trio I bought from Zoya recently.
This is the one that first drew my eye ;P

Here's 2 coats of 'Blair'.

'Blair' is a deep, red wine metallic polish.
It's easily opaque in two coats,
The formula was great, like most Zoyas.

I foresee this little baby being a great base for some nail art/stamping for Christmas :)

Zoya 'Marnie'

Happy Saturday!
I took advantage of the latest Zoya sale (3 for $15; or maybe it was $18?),
and today's polish was one of the ones I picked!

Here's 2 coats of Zoya's 'Marnie'.

'Marnie' is a plumish/mauve colored cream from the Naturel 2 collection.
It was a bit more runny that I would have liked,
but it's still a lovely shade that is perfect for Fall.
:)

'Apple Cider'

Hello again!
Today I have a polish that I actually featured last year,
but it's so lovely that I had to feature it again this year :D

This is 'Apple Cider' from the formerly known PopCultureCosmetics
(now known as Neverland Lacquers) over 2 coats of Zoya's 'Flynn'.

I just adore this polish.
It's a bronze-y base with all sizes/shapes of gold & red glitter.
Over the (sorry, but) 'poop-brown color of 'Flynn'... it's actually super gorgeous.
ESPECIALLY in the sunlight!

This polish just screams Fall to me,
and I couldn't have been happier to whip it back out again :)

3/2/14

Zoya 'Jules'

I have a nice metallic polish to post about today.
I bought this a couple months ago and am
just now getting around to swatching it for you guys,
even though i've worn it already several times :)

Here's 3 coats of Zoya's 'Jules'.

'Jules' is a metallic taupe with gold, silver, and champagne shimmer.
However, I found the polish to lean much more gold than anything else.
I was looking for something slightly more taupe-ish than this turned out to be,
 but I like it anyway.
:)

PCC- 'Winter Wonderland'

Even though Spring is right around the corner for us in TN,
I know lots of states are still dealing with tons of snow.
Here's the last of my Pop Culture Cosmetics winter polishes :)

This is 2 coats of 'Winter Wonderland' over Zoya's Phoebe

'Winter Wonderland' is a clear base with tons of iridescent micro glitter,
small, medium, and large white circle glitter, and large white snowflakes.

I really like it over the blue base.
It makes it look more wintery or something :)

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand: Pop Culture Cosmetics
Type: Glitter Top Coat
Formula: Good!
Opacity (1-5): 1
Application: Good, but you definitely have to dig for the bigger glitters.
Price: $4 for a mini

What do you guys think about this top coat?
It's winter-ful! ;P

February Favorites :)

It's been embarrassingly long since I've done a favorites post,
I'm ashamed to say.
Sorry about that!
Things have just been insane with my student teaching the past semester and a half.

Now  I finally have some time to do it, though.

So here they are!

1. Revlon Matte Balm Stain in 'Elusive'.
*NOT my picture. Credit to allurabeauty.com

This has quickly become my newest favorite lip color.
It's muted/dusty enough that it works for Winter,
but it's also bright enough that it works for the coming Spring.
See my swatch of this bad boy here.

2. Too Faced Jingle All the Way makeup set

This makeup set has been my go-to to create my everyday daytime look.
The neutrals in it are fantastic,
with lovely shimmer.
See a FULL review of it that I just did here.

3. Victoria's Secret perfume 'Tease'

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS FRAGRANCE.
That is all :)
Go buy it if you know what's good for you.

I was really pleased with how whimsical and fun this look turned out to be.
It's a bit more dramatic than I usually do,
but it's been probably my favorite from this month.
See the crazy purple/blue lip I paired with it here.

Zoya 'Layla'

I bought this polish LAST Valentine's Day,
but every time I use it, I'm thrilled all over again that I bought it.
Such a bright, happy pink!
Also, my daughter's name ;P

This has been my other favorite look from this month.
I really loved how soft the purple and pinks were together,
and the gradient of that light to dark purple in the crease.
I'm quite pleased with it :)

What are ya'll's thoughts on these?
Which is YOUR favorite?

Valentine's Day nail art & mani

Ya'll know I'm NOT good at nail art.
I saw a design on Pinterest that I wanted to try and recreate...
-___-
It turned out pretty crappy.
But i'll post anyway!

This is SUPPOSED to be heart shaped balloons.
But... yeah.
Didn't quite work out.
I got my hand to stop shaking long enough to do a somewhat decent job
on the hearts, but the black strings are wayyyy too thick.

Also, I have a super girl and simply mani for you:

This topcoat is one of the first indie polishes I ever bought
a couple years ago.

This is 'Monsta Love' from GlitterDaze.
Very fun :)
Nice little throwback,
as it was originally posted here.

Starrily- 'The Magic of Frosty'

Okay, okay.
So i know this is technically a Christmas polish,
but being that so many places are getting snow today-
I figured it's still fitting...
you can still make snowmen, whether it's christmas or not :)

Anyway, here's 1 coat of 'The Magic of Frosty' over Zoya's 'Neely'.

'The Magic of Frosty' is a clear base filled with white & red microglitter,
small green, red, and blue hexes, medium white hexes, large red hexes,
and large white snowflakes.

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand: Starrily
Type: Glitter Top Coat
Formula: Good!
Opacity (1-5): 1
Application: Good, but you definitely have to dig for the bigger glitters.
Price: $8-$9 for a mini

What do you guys think of this fun winter top coat?
I love it :)

Zoya- 'Taylor'

I've got another lovely Zoya for you today.
I bought this once from their most recent promotion,
and I obviously HAD to buy it since it bears my name :)

Also, I've been on the hunt for good, neutral, wedding polishes
and this definitely looked promising online.

Here's 2 coats of 'Taylor'.

'Taylor' is a "light toffee creme". It is indeed very light,
but looked a bit different on my nails than I expected.
I still like it, though.

Not sure if it's quite THE wedding polish I was looking for, though,
so I'm still on the hunt!

1/21/14

Zoya Pixiedust 'Godiva'

Hooray!
I've finally bought myself a Pixiedust!
I've loved these polishes ever since they came out awhileeee ago,
but i've just now gotten around to buying one.

I purchased a few polishes lately that seemed like they'd be good to wear to a wedding
(seeing as how I'm in one and am having my own this year),
so that's what I was thinking when I bought this one.

Here's 2 coats of 'Godiva' !

'Godiva' is a champagne/sand colored glitter,
but is offically described as a "soft nude" with "sugared sparkle" ;P

IT'S JUST BASICALLY GORG, MKAY?

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand: Zoya
Type: Pixiedust/glitter
Formula: Great!
Opacity (1-5): 2
Application: Awesome!
Price: $9
Get This: Zoya.com

What do you all think about this baby?

Nail mail/makeup additions

Several new things today :)

First, my most recent purchases from Zoya came in last week!

Can you guess which these are? ;P
Stay tuned for swatches of these bad boys in the coming weeks.

As for the makeup, I scooped up Covergirl's latest mascara:

CG is usually a solid brand when it comes to mascaras,
so I'm excited to try this one.

Lastly, this little rando thing,

I've never even heard of this brand?
But it was $1 and Spring-y looking,
so, why not?

Swatches seemed decent enough!

Have any of you had experience with these?
What are your thoughts?
:)

Enchanted Forest

I have another truly lovely polish from Pop Culture Cosmetics for ya'll today.
Being that we got some snow last night,
I figured now was a good time to post it!

Here's 2 coats of 'Enchanted Forest' over
2 coats of Zoya's 'Gaia' on 3 fingers & Zoya's 'Miley' on my ring finger.

'Enchanted Forest' is a  pearl white polish filled with iridescent shimmer
and small and medium iridescent circle & hex glitter.
It's really delicate and beautiful :)
Especially over 'Gaia'; I like it much better over that than 'Miley'.

What do you guys think about this polish?
Did you get any snow?

11/12/13

Spotted: Fall!

Now that Fall (and bits of winter?) is definitely here to stay,
I decided to do fun & simple Fall nail art :)
I love using my dotting tool,
so I just went with that.

That's Zoya's 'Flynn' as a base,
and the dots are Sally Hansen's 'Red Carpet', Zoya's 'Thandie',
& an unnamed metallic gold from Kleancolor :)

I'm no pro at nail art,
thus why I never do it,
but I wanted to at least attempt some this time.

10/30/13

October Favorites!!

It's that time again!
Here are my favorite products from this month :)

1. Urban Decay B6 Vitamin- Infused Complexion Prep Spray
*not my picture

This stuff is the perfect last piece of the puzzle if you want your makeup to last
ALL. DAY.
It's a fairly new pickup of mine,
but I'll have a full review of this bad boy soon.
Suffice it to say- it's awesome.

2. MakeupGeek 'Burlesque'
*pic from makeupgeek.com

Just like last Fall, I'm still obsessed with the wine-red, plum color.
This is perfectly expressed in MUG's shadow, 'Burlesque'.
Tons of pigmentation & a hint of sparkle!
See it used most recently by me here.

3. Foils & Metallics like Zoya 'Channing' & CG's 'Strike up a Cosmo'

I'm a sucker for sparkle anyway,
and these shimmering fall shakes packed with glitz make me swoon!

4. L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly mascara
*not my picture

This is one of my most recent purchases, so I don't have a review on it yet.
Needless to say, though, first impression are that this bad boy ROCKS.
Cannot wait to share with you all.

What do you think of these products?
What were your favorites from October?
