I've Got the Blues Week : Day 6- Kleancolor metallic

Hello everyone!
Although blue's week has been fun, i can't lie- i'm ready for it to be over. I've gotten so many new goodies in the mail that I can't wait to show you guys! But just one day left :e

For tonight I give you this sweet metallic:

This navy blue metallic is from Kleancolor's Techno High mini collection. It doesn't have a name :c I love the richness of all the colors in this set, but the quality does seem a little so-so. It was pretty thick and difficult to apply smoothly. The fabulous color makes up for it, though. These are the only Kleancolor polishes I have... does anyone else have any? What has been your experience with them?

Aside from my daughter, my other passion in life is music. I'm going to try to pair a corresponding song with each of my posts just to share with you guys what I love or am listening to :)

Though this song has no lyrics, the song title hits the mark :p
& it's also something i've been listening to a lot lately.

Thanks for reading! :k

I've Got the Blues Week : Day 5- 'Robyn'

Happy Friday the 13th! :vD

So for today's blue i'm featuring my first Zoya polish!! I ordered this one and one other during the recent little deal Zoya.com had going on & could not wait for them to get here!

Behold, I give you Zoya's 'Robyn'

'Robyn' is a turquoise cream polish with a gorgeous glossy finish. As excited as I was to get this polish, I was pretty disappointed :/ I chose it because I don't have any other colors like it, but I really didn't like this color on me after all was said and done. The polish itself is wonderful, but the shade is just not for me. Maybe once my nails grow longer it will somehow look better? I don't know... it sucks, to say the least. Perhaps once i'm more tan for the summer...

Aside from how I think it looks with my skin tone, the actual polish is super fun and reminds me of a
good summery shade.

Do any of you have this particular color? What's your favorite Zoya?

This song reminds me of  'Robyn' because it's a happy, make-you-feel-warm-and-fuzzy color... & this song has always made me feel that way, as well xD

I've Got the Blues Week : Day 4- 'Aruba Blue'

Hiiiiiiiiii ;)

Im not so sure I'm going to have time to post tomorrow due to a full day, so i'm going to go ahead and post tomorrow's polish- tonight.
:O

Quickly, I give you Essie's 'Aruba Blue'.
* fluorescent lighting

*regular indoor lighting

Above is two coats of 'Aruba Blue'. It's a beautiful, sapphire blue with a slight shimmer. It actually reminds me very much of China Glaze's 'Blue Year's Eve'- swatched here. I loved the richness and glossy-ness of this polish. I'm not usually a fan of deep/bright blue on my hands, but this polish really began to grow on me. The consistency was a little thin/watery for my liking, but it was good enough. As with most Essie's, you can find it at the Targets, Walmarts, Walgreens, etc. :)

'Aruba Blue' calls to mind a beach scene,.
& this song is one of my favorite beachy tunes :)

I've Got the Blues Week : Day 3- 'Rich in Spirit'

goooooood afternoon, ya'll.
Welp, classes officially started back today :(
In honor of such, I picked one of my favorite blues for today's polish.

NOPI's 'Rich in Spirit'

* fluorescent lighting

* regular, indoor lighting

ALLLLLLLLRIGHTY.
'Rich in Spirit' is a metallic, silvery blue that is gorgeous 8)
One of my favorite colors to wear on my nails is silver, & this gives me a nice variation. I think it would look quite nice with this look, also. This polish is a great, wintery shade and is definitely one I can't wait to wear again :i

1/11/12

I've Got the Blues Week : Day 2- Russian Navy Suede

alright so some of you may remember the collection of suede finish polishes that OPI released a few years ago. yes? Well i happened to find one of these little gems in a random box whilst moving and figured I'd feature it during blues week! xD

I give you OPI's 'Russian Navy Suede'.

*forgive my dried out cuticles :/ I've got Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream to the rescue!
** also forgive the messed up spot on my ring finger. oopsies >.<

Here you have 2 coats, with no top coat (which, obviously, changes the look from suede to glossy).

Though not my favorites of polishes, I think this is really neat. It's a cool idea and the finish really does remind me of suede. I'm not a huge fan of the matte-ish look, but that's what makes it suede :P Application was easy and it actually dried quite quickly. Anyway, it's not a polish I've seen featured much on any blogs (perhaps due to its age), so I figured I would give it a little light!

:) What do ya'll think?!

I've Got the Blues Week: Day 1- 'Kendall on the Katwalk'

Good morning, ladies!
So in honor of school starting back this week, I decided to dedicate my posts to blue polish o_O

For day 1 I chose to feature one of my newest blues- 'Kendall on the Katwalk' from the NOPI Kardashian collection.

This polish has a light blue base and contains light & dark blue glitter and purple glitter.

* regular indoor lighting

*fluorescent lighting

I used 2 coats (though no top coat) & I was surprised how much I LOVED this polish :D The effect really is divine after that second coat. Application was actually very easy and it dried super super quickly. This polish hardly makes me feel blue at all :P

Juicy Couture's 'Viva la Juicy' !

hellooooooo! ^_^
So today I wanted to talk about this amazing little purchase I made the other day. I'm usually pretty boring when it comes to perfume- i've used the same scent from Bath & Body Works for years & never cared to venture outside of it.
until now.
I got a free sample of Juicy Couture's 'Viva la Juicy' from Sephora with my Mariposa palette, & i fell. in. love. :L

I just got the .5 fl oz bottle, ($25 a Walmart) but once it runs out I just might splurge for the (pricey) larger one.

It's absolutely dreamy! The scent is a combo of "wild berries and mandarins, honeysuckle, gardenia, & jasmine". I'm not usually a huge fan of floral scents (in perfume, candles, or anywhere else) but this realllllly struck me. It's delicate and sexy; the best of both worlds :k

I definitely recommend!

Have any of you tried this scent?
Thanks for reading! :h

wintery look

Hey guys :)
I know it's been awhile since I posted any make-up looks, but I've been in my glasses for the past few weeks (waiting for my contacts to come in), & i couldn't see squat without them on (and i obviously had to take them off to do eye make-up)... needless to say, i've had a few boring weeks as far as make-up is concerned. However, my contacts came in yesterday so I can finally put up some new stuff.

This particular look was created on a wing & a prayer :P
I literally just randomly picked 3 shades from
Urban Decay's Mariposa Palette & hoped they'd work together. In the end, I came up with what reminds me of a winter-ish look.

* taken indoors in fluorescent light

Okay, so the three shades I chose to work with were 'Gunmetal', 'Money', & 'Haight' (see here for swatches). I used 'Money' on the inner parts of my eye & the corners. Then on the outer part I used 'Haight'; on the outer corners & in the crease I used 'Gunmetal'... and I basically just blended it all until I achieved something I liked. I DID use a bit of 'Blackout' from the 15th Anniversary palette on the outer corners, too, just to complete the look a bit.
Just to complete the wintery-y effect, I would have liked using some silvery, glitter eyeliner and posssssibly frosting the tips of my eyelashes a bit, but I didn't own the eyeliner and didn't think about frosting until after I'd taken these pictures (& by that time my daughter had woken up from her nap and any future adjustments to the look could be forgotten).

Anyway, here's my first look for 2012 and the first with my new palette! :)
Feedback is welcome!

Urban Decay's Mariposa Palette!

IT HAS ARRIVED!
I wanted to hug the little nerdy delivery man when he placed the box in my hands.

I've been so excited for this palette. It has some of my favorite classic shades & 4 BRAND new shades. 'Tis awesome.

WOOOO!
Okay, here we go:

First is 'Rockstar' which is a deep, eggplant purple. I've never used a shade like this on my eyes & am anxious to try it and see what I think. 'Gunmetal' is a classic & one of my personal favorites. I first discovered it in Book of Shadows II. It's a dark grey with tiny silver glitter and can be worn with a myriad of looks. 'Skimp' is a fleshy, matte-ish shade. I've never used this one before either, but I'm not usually a fan of matte shades so i'm not sure how often i'll use it. 'Infamous' reminds me very much of 'Junkshow' from the 15th Anniversary palette. It's not quite as vibrant but still very colorful. It actually makes it more versatile. 'Wreckage' is reminiscent of 'Underground' (one of my all time favorite shades), 'Nylon', and 'YDK'. It's a shimmery medium dark brown and is definitely a shade I see myself using on a daily basis.

I'm a sucker for blues and 'Haight' definitely met my expectations. It's slightly similar to 'Deep End' from the 15th anniversary palette, though it's much darker. 'Haight' is a teal-ish, medium dark blue with a slight shimmer. 'Money' is a medium, shimmery, dark-grey with teeny pieces of silver glitter, also. I'm excited about this shade because I can definitely see myself using it regularly. 'Mushroom' was one of my favorites shades from Book of Shadows vol. II. It's a grey-ish, shimmery brown. 'Spotlight' is a light and shiny champagne color that reminds me of 'Sellout'. I already love this shade because it looks awesome with 'Wreckage' and other neutral tones, which are what I use most often. Lastly, 'Limelight' is a golden, coppery shade with tiny golden glitter.

As with all UD eye shadows, the staying power of all these shades is fantastic. Many of the shades in this palette blend together very well, which makes them all the more fun to play around with. I'm hopefully going to post a look with a few of them tomorrow :)

What do you guys think? Do any of you have these shades or any particular thoughts on them?

Thanks for reading!
:D

glitter badge!

WHATSUP WHATSUP.
(anyone seen 'Sex Drive'?...)
:]

Okay, so Kaki over at 'Glitter Obsession' gave me this awesome little number.

Ze glitter badge!
If you'd have told me a year ago that I would be as glitter obsessed as I am now I would have laughed in your face. I don't know what it was, but after having a little girl & becoming a mother- I became a WHOLE lot more game to embrace some of the girly things in life that I had snubbed before.

Anyway,
I'm supposed to post some pictures of my favorite glitter polish (to be worthy, of course). Now there's no way that I could pick JUST ONE glitter polish, so i decided to post a swatch of all my favorites :p

* from L to R: China Glaze's 'Snowglobe', CG's ' Blonde Bombshell', PureICE's 'Spit Fire', & Wet  n Wild's 'Party of Five Glitters'

* Sally Hansen's 'In the Spotlight' & OPI's 'How's It Snowin'

* OPI's 'A Sparkle Yule Love'

* Sally Hansen's 'Ice Queen'

Anyway, I absolutely love these 8 glitters. Some are newer & i'll post more in depth swatches of them later on. But this will have to suffice for now?
What do you guys think?!

I now pass this on to:

KardasianKolors: It's All About the Glam & Hard-Kourt Fashionista

hey guys!
So i could hardly wait to try out some of the polishes from the Kardashian collection that I bought yesterday, & here's what I have!

I attempted 'It's All About the Glam' first.
At first I thought this was just another typical white, cream polish, but it's actually got a really faint, pretty shimmer to it.
Unfortunately, it didn't translate onto my nails like I thought it would :/

No matter how many coats I put on, (I did 3 in the following pictures) I just couldn't quite get it to look like I wanted it to- it's just too sheer. On my so-so nails, it didn't look good at all. On longer, more pretty nails, however, I'm sure it would look great.

* just more sheer than I was looking for :/

* hopefully you can kind of see the shimmer here; sorry they're a bit sloppy!

So like I said, on a person with prettier nails & on someone who's more of a nail 'artist' than myself, I'm sure this polish would look great. Just wasn't what I thought it was going to be, & I wasn't crazy about how it looked on my beginner nails :/

ONWARDS,

The second polish I tried today was 'Hard-Kourt Fashionista' & i LOVED this one.

This is rich, creamy, chocolate brown. I was surprised at it's natural shiny-ness (?)- i hardly needed a top coat!

*excuse the messed up thumb :/

Anyway, I really didn't think I would like this color as much as I do. I'm not usually a fan of earthy tones on nails, but this one really surprised me. Definitely glad I scooped it up!

Thanks for reading,
& have a great night!
:)

Kardashian Kolors & my spontaneous haul!

Hola!
I'm really hoping that UPS isn't swamped with people returning gifts or something this week, because I need my purchase from Sephora ASAP as it's the new Urban Decay Mariposa Palette! I'm so stoked & can't wait to try some looks out with it.
Anyway,
as I was in Walmart picking up a few items, I remembered that I had a walmart gift card... and what better way to spend that than on some polishes & other things I don't need! :) Seeing as how I bought the primary necessary items I truly NEEDED, I felt justified in splurging a little on myself through frappacinos, make up, and nail polish :p

I give you my little spontaneous Walmart haul!

but HERE is what I was most excited about:
*from left to right: Kendall on the Katwalk, Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi, Khloe had a Little Lam-Lam, It's All About the Glam, and Hard-Kourt Fashionista!

asngkajbgjka! All the walmarts/targets i've been checking lately have been completely out of this collection, so I couldn't believe my luck when I just happened to stop by the aisle today & found almost  ALL of the collection!
Due to feeling crappy about blowing all of my gift card on nail polish, i just bought 5 :p

Also, I bought 4 PureICE polishes:
*from left to right: Spit Fire, Dreamy, All Nighter, A List

I was particularly drawn to 'Spit Fire' and A List', but i'm pretty excited about the others, too.

Lastly I got this Essie:
'Wrapped in Rubies'

I'll try to have some swatches up soon of these! :D

What do you guys think?
Do any of you have any of these ?!

everything new years!

Happy 2012, everyone!
Our last year to enjoy life before humanity is wiped off the face of the earth, right?! Woo!
;p

I rang in the new year with some great friends at a GREAT show in Nashville with a great band- Moon Taxi.

I usually never do new years resolutions, but I actually have come up with a few this year:

1. DRINK MORE WATER
Besides obvious health reasons, I really need to increase my water intake for my daughter so that my milk supply increases, also. TMI? perhaps, but still an important resolution nonetheless.

2. TAKE BETTER CARE OF MY FACE
Not only do I forget to wash off my makeup before bed on a regular basis, but i'm also way too harsh on my skin. When I DO take off my make-up (referring to eyes here) I wipe outwards under my eye instead of INWARDS. this can result in early aging/wrinkling- which i'm not too keen on. My eyes already have dark circles under them half the time (mostly due to my infant daughter, bless her) & removing make-up the wrong way isn't helping!

3. STOP BITING MY NAILS
Though I technically began this resolution a month or two ago, it's been something i've struggled with doing for years & i'm finally determined to quit.

4. FACE EVERY OPPORTUNITY/DECISION WITH FACTS AND AN OBJECTIVE (or as objective as can be) PERSPECTIVE.
Follow my mind & what's right for my daughter and myself- not my heart... this may entail some difficult choices in this upcoming year, but I will do what needs to be done & do it with the upmost confidence and certainty!

5. REGAIN MY SCHOLARSHIP/MAINTAIN GPA
I had it when I began college, then messed around for a couple years & lost it. Now, with a child, it's even more pertinent that I get it back. Im very close to doing so. Also, I've maintained either at 4.0 or 3.5 since transferring to my current college & would like to keep it that way:)

Anyway,
enough of the boring, sentimental stuff.
ONWARDS, TO THE THINGS YOU ACTUALLY CARE TO READ ABOUT!
:)

I'm by no means a fashionista, but I loved my new years outfit so much that I had to put it up here.
i wore this tank...

under this blazer.

I cinched it with a belt very similar to this (mine didn't have the rhinestones),
and paired it with thick, black leggings.

I also wore these:
which surprised even me. First of all, I don't usually like wedges. Second of all, though I don't mind this print on clothing- having it on my shoes in such an out there way isn't something i'm usually game for. But for whatever reason, whilst browsing in the shoe store these called out to me. I was halfway embarrassed to even be seen trying them on. But lo & behold I rocked them new years eve! Although I was wanting to cut my feet off by the end of the night due to standing/dancing in them for 5+ hours, I'm quite glad I went out on a limb & purchased them.

To get back to my beauty roots, I went out & purchased a little something special just to pair with this outfit:

Urban Decay's 'Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner' in 'Midnight Cowboy', coincidentally one of my favorite shadows. I used to associate glitter eyeliner with cheap, make-up looks (perhaps an unjustified comparison, but my thinking nonetheless), but boy did this change my mind. I LOVE this stuff. Though you do have to give it a few seconds to dry lest you get random glitter adhered to your eyelids, I experienced nothing but good things from this eyeliner. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised since it IS urban decay, but still :) It definitely gave my eyes the pop I was looking for with my otherwise very dark eye shadow. Something I'd definitely recommend.

I also did 'new years' nails, but I didn't get a picture of them :( I used China Glaze's 'Tinsel Town' and 'Blonde Bombshell', & they were ridiculously fun.

What do you guys think about everything? Have you ever tried the eyeliner? And any new years resolutions?? :)

Thanks for readingggggg!

12/29/11

it's a bird!... it's a plane!... it's a speckled dragon!!

okay so, aside from the corny austin powers reference, these polishes are pretty awesome.
I think this little look is super fun & i just might keep it on my nails longer than the usual one day :)

*fluorescent light

* regular light

I used 2 coats of CG's 'Flying Dragon' and followed with 2 coats of 'Nubar 2010'. 'Flying Dragon', though super pretty in the bottle, dries matte (which I didn't know when I bought it) and it was hard to see the little blue glitter in it. SO I decided to use Nubar 2010 (which I hadn't used yet) to give it some shine and a little extra UMPH. And boy howdy did it work. I really like the speckled effect it gives.

Anyway, nothing too special considering i'm not the nail artist that most of you are (& make up is my true passion anyway), but still a fun little look :)

What do you guys think?!
